Desmond District Demons - Short Horror Festival

Port Huron, United States

This town is bewitched.

Fables of the Demons have taken deep root in the dark hearts of our followers both near and far, they come in droves to take in the horrors upon the silver screen.

Desmond District Demons is an annual independent film festival that takes place every October. We look to celebrate the dedication and passion of genre filmmakers from across the globe and especially in our locally grown talent in Michigan.

Our journey began with a shared vision among fellow filmmakers, a desire to create a platform where exceptional films could be showcased and appreciated for the artistry and dedication they embody.

Throughout our many seasons, we've been fortunate to witness the dark, twisted imaginations of filmmakers from every corner of the world to share with our audiences. Our communities shared devotion to genre cinema humbles us year after year.

Films from around the globe participate in a competition to win judged awards, as well as audience choice awards. (non-cash) We also like to bestow an award on our favorite Michigan filmmaker as well.

Michigan filmmakers submitting to the festival also have access to a special discount to encourage and help our local talent get their films on the silver screen in front of a live audience.

MYTH: Social Impact Film Award

Ivano-Frankivsk, Ukraine

"We particularly value highly artistic and aesthetic films—short and feature, documentary and narrative—that explore various aspects of life. Above all, we have a deep appreciation for catharsis."

Film Award is organized by the MYTH Foundation, an international cultural community that supports Ukraine's resistance through art. The Foundation is a non-profit, apolitical non-governmental organization. Its primary goals are the promotion of Ukraine abroad, supporting the morale of the Ukrainian people, creating professional national cultural products, and developing cultural diplomacy and cooperation with Ukrainian and international institutions in the fields of culture and cinema.

The MYTH Social Impact Film Award is an international platform that amplifies the voices of artists and projects standing in solidarity with Ukraine. The award focuses on films about the war, the lives of civilians in combat zones, acute social issues, justice, resistance to Russian propaganda, as well as works documenting or highlighting human rights violations during the war.

On November 15, 2025, the MYTH Foundation launched and held the first MYTH Social Impact Film Award, bringing together participants from 33 countries of the free world to support Ukraine. The "Madonna and Child in a Shelter," the main award and symbol of the film prize, found its home in London and Rome, Berlin and Paris, Istanbul and Warsaw, New York and Delhi, Toronto and Kramatorsk—becoming a fond memory of Ukraine and a symbolic talisman for filmmakers worldwide.

The 2nd Film Award is dedicated to the strength of the human spirit and the unwavering will to live. We present works centered on themes of humanity and struggle, freedom and love. Our country is enduring a horrific war, yet it continues to love, live, hope, and fight. Now more than ever, there is a need for life-affirming, powerful stories—dramatic and comedic, quiet and loud—diverse in their essence.

The main theme is: "Love for Life – Against All Odds." This theme unites national and international films of various genres around humanistic values, maintaining a focus on the Ukrainian experience of war while offering the audience a sense of hope and support from around the world.

The Film Award is scheduled as a tour across Ukraine in June 2026, with main events in Kyiv and screenings for regional audiences in Lviv and Ivano-Frankivsk.

The 2nd Film Award will feature the following Main Sections, including both narrative and documentary projects:

National Feature Film

The town lives to the rhythm of artists and creative minds who come to Yucca Valley in search of the perfect place to create and find a receptive audience.

If there is something we all have in common, it is movement. As Akram Khan put it: “Movement is the essential ingredient of how the world continues, or survives.”

When our body’s movement fuses with the cinematographical movement, one of the most original film genres is born: dance film. While words can mislead, the body language does not lie.

Choreoscope is the International Dance Film Festival of Barcelona. A unique event dedicated not only to those passionate about dance, but also to those who enjoy quality cinema. Born in 2013, with three full-house celebrated events, our goal is to promote the strong ties with art in general and with film and dance in particular.

Movies do not know any boundaries. Dance does not either. There is a common language joining them. The universal language of movement. Choreoscope ́s mission is to connect this fascinating language with an audience eager to experience something new, different, something special. Choreoscope Barcelona is the dance film festival of those who go one step further.

Welcome to a world where fear and creativity collide—welcome to Sinister!

Sinister isn’t just a film festival; it’s a celebration of the best in horror, where the paranormal and the macabre intertwine with art and imagination. Our festival is dedicated to the filmmakers and creators who push the boundaries of the genre, offering them a platform to showcase their unique visions.

Why Sinister is Unique?

Sinister is an international event that honors creativity and innovation in the horror genre. It’s where fear becomes an art form, and where filmmakers from around the world present their most chilling and impactful works.

Why Participate in Sinister?

1. A Celebration of Horror Cinema: At Sinister, we bring together established filmmakers and emerging talent from all over the globe. Our carefully selected program features not only the latest must-see releases but also hidden gems in independent horror. We offer a platform for both seasoned and new voices to be heard.

2. Screenwriting Contest: The written word is as powerful as the images on screen. Our screenwriting contest rewards the most creative and twisted minds who craft stories that stay with you long after the credits roll. If you have a terrifying story to tell, Sinister is the place to share it.

3. Music Video Contest: Horror doesn’t just live on screen—it echoes in music. Our music video contest celebrates the artists who blend sound and visuals to create atmospheric, chilling experiences. This contest honors the music videos that elevate horror and bring it to life in new ways.

4. Photography Contest: Horror is as much about the image as it is about the story. Our photography contest shines a spotlight on the photographers who capture the dark beauty of fear. From haunting portraits to eerie landscapes, we celebrate the still images that tell their own terrifying tales.

Sinister: Where Horror Meets Art.

More than just a festival, Sinister is a community where filmmakers and artists are valued and supported. Every selected participant gets a chance to share their journey and vision in Sinister Magazine, amplifying their voice in the world of horror.

We invite you to join us and become part of this unique event that celebrates the best in horror and creativity. Don’t miss the chance to be part of a festival that truly values its creators.

Film Making is an art and it needs more patience and determination to recreate your ideas to a motion picture. Films Festivals although are typically annual events, they acknowledge various genre of films, mostly from across the globe and encourage people engaged in cinema.
