Medrar for Contemporary Art launches its call for the 11th edition of Cairo Video Festival, which will be held in December 2024. The festival continues its focus on providing a platform for sharing and discussing newly produced video art and experimental film. Programs will be screened in conventional and non-conventional venues, in theater and exhibition spaces to promote, expand and harvest attention to the practice.
The 11th edition of Cairo Video Festival culminates many steps and stages that represent our experiences with video art and experimental film, and also summarizes our recurrent inquiries about the relationship between artistic expression and the reality we live in, the current events and our eagerness to experiment and add new and different values with each edition. It is an opportunity that we yearn for with every edition to witness these innovations, experiences and new concepts from around the world, and to share them with the public.
The call for submission is directed towards video artists and experimental filmmakers from various technical fields. We also encourage designers and developers who work in the fields of virtual reality, animation, interactive softwares, and artistic games via the Internet, computers or smartphones to respond to the call. Likewise, those who emphasize the use of the moving image in their installations or live performances. Curators and institutions involved in the production and distribution of video art and experimental film are encouraged to submit their programs. The festival’s program takes the format of a series of showcases, accompanied by talks and discussions with active video-makers and curators to tackle some of the key themes and issues addressed in the works.

Since 2013, the International Film Festival for Human Rights Colombia offers attendees an audiovisual, cultural and academic program that contributes to the formation of audiences, the strengthening of film and cultural industries, the creation of spaces for dialogue around life, reconciliation, the promotion and defense of human rights, and the construction of ideas for peace.
The Festival is the ideal setting for the film community of Colombia and the world that bets on audiovisual narration with a focus on human rights, which is why it becomes the main platform for the promotion, circulation, distribution and exhibition of audiovisual works whose demand is limited due to their non-commercial subject matter.
The Festival is being held simultaneously in the cities of Barranquilla, Medellin, Cali, Bogota, Soacha, Cartagena, Manizales, Pereira and Villavicencio, and in about 10 municipalities in the country, organized by Fundación Impulsos.
MIEFF is a platform for everyone who creates, takes interest in or otherwise engages with the moving images. Our main goal is to support Russian artists and introduce them to the international community, as well as help experimental cinema reach a wider audience.
We want to create spaces for dialogue and therefore we believe it important to enrich the intellectual context surrounding film and contemporary art instead of reducing it to univocal ideologies. This is achieved through a carefully curated program of screenings, public and educational events, where different viewpoints and voices are all welcome.
We also understand that if we want to be in tune with the ever-changing reality, we need to keep experimenting. Experiment for us is a method and not an empty label. We want to try different ways to organize horizontal teamwork, distribute responsibilities, and finance our whole endeavour. We want to find new opportunities for ethical partnerships and transparent communication with each other—and everyone who participates in the life of our festival.
At the moment, the festival structure includes international competition, Russian competition, retrospective section Close-Up, special screenings, curatorial multimedia block as well as an interdisciplinary educational programme called Extracurricular Practices.
MIEFF was founded in 2016 by Vladimir Nadein and Ekaterina Shitova. Now it operates as an independent non-commercial organization and is managed by the board, which includes (listed in the alphabetical order): Kristina Efremenko, Dmitry Frolov, Mariam Ismailova, Sophia Ismailova, Marianna Kruchinsky, Anna Naumova, Kirill Rozhentsov, and Margarita Sokolovskaya.
Friends! We are waiting for you! You can influence the whole course of our festival.
The vote of three of the independent jury right in the room! The jury of filmmakers against the press and the audience!
OUR FESTIVAL OUT OF POLITICS
It connects people, their kind hearts and creativity. The first festival was held in 2018 in Moscow, Russia, 2019 - in the capital of Belarus, Minsk, March 2021 - in Moscow and Podolsk.
FESTIVAL ORGANIZER
The festival is organized by the Vyatkin Publishing House. We publish books in author's gift and leather hand-made bindings, make documentaries, short-length films and presentation videos. The publishing house is a permanent member of international and Russian exhibitions, festivals and forums. The publishing house also participates in organizing charity events, psychological and thematic seminars, meetings with authors, film directors and actors.
BASIC PRINCIPLES OF THE FESTIVAL
Our festival selects films based on the principle of dueling, as in sports. The films must pass through several stages: the official selection, the semi-final and the final. The final takes place in the form of a battle-duel, which is evaluated right in the hall by the filmmakers, the audience and the press.
The aim of the festival is to encourage young filmmakers to make new films, to appreciate their creativity and to introduce filmmakers to the culture and life of the world. We accept films of all genres from all over the world and give new filmmakers the opportunity to evaluate their films and compete with other famous filmmakers. These are films made from the heart and for people of all genres who deny aggression and war.
Each film that passes the official selection will receive laurels. And at the end of the festival, of course, a buffet and a photo shoot.

The festival includes three exciting weekends of films, creative activities, and gala events, as well as two weeks of screenings and events for schools.

Since2008, the MAACASSO association organizes each year, an international art film festival called NYGO for “Nos Yeux Grands Ouverts” (which means Our Eyes Wide Open) . The festival creates a competition between young artists. Our aim is to promote and highlight the new talents of the contemporary audiovisual creation. For the 10th edition, on March the 1st, our association is looking for young artists with an art film project that will be submitted to the judgement of the NYGO jury.
This year, we invite all the candidates to work on the theme “Resonance”. This theme can be treated in a sonor, visual or conceptual way because it can be understood as a reflect, or an impact with consequences. The resonance is a link between two elements, an impact of one to another, an answer from one to another. The artist must express a resonance in its film, but its goal can also be the achievement of its own resonance into the public’s appreciation, to create a link between the artwork’s meaning and the spectator’s feeling.
We want the art films to be a mean for the artists to spread their ideas, visions, concerns and feelings as a shock wave on the public, and a canal to interconnect individuals.
Criteria to respect:
Person aged 18 to 30 years old.
Respect the theme imposed in his creative process.
One project per applicant but several artists possible on the realization.
The film must be between 1 minutes 30 seconds and 8 minutes, including the credits.
- Fill out the online application form. Submit his film by mail: (wetranfer file)

(accepted formats : .mp4, .m4v, .avi,

The NYGO Award:
The first prize: 800 €
The second prize: 500 €
The third prize: 300 €
