PLUM! is an international animated film festival that aims to
disseminate and promote the art of animation in its diversity of techniques, voices and stories through the exhibition of works by local artists and from the rest of the world.

We wish to generate a platform for independent animation with an emphasis on
those works that expand the visual, conceptual and narrative limits of animated cinema and, at the same time, build a meeting point to promote creativity, exchange and collaboration between artists and the general public.
The two main competitions, one for animated shorts produced in
Latin America and those from the rest of the world will complement each other
with the other activities organized by the PLUM! festival: retrospectives, special programs, activities for children and adolescents, workshops related to the production of animated content, discussion panels, exhibitions and installations, creation of video games and special screenings with the CineMóvil in other parts of the Calchaquíes Valleys, among others. We seek to give the festival an eco-sustainable profile,
diverse and inclusive and generate a close bond of respect, work and cooperation with the different communities that make up the Tafí Valley.

Our Mission

We acclaim emerging directors, screenwriters and filmmakers from all over the world and amplify their work by bringing together a diverse audience to experience and reflect on it, and engage in further dialogue.

Our community exists at the intersection of a broader, more inclusive, cinematic gaze and the emergence of truly exceptional cinema.

If films are the content, Alfama is the form that sets the tone for the experiences we create. An architectural somatisation of intimacy, this is the scene in which we invite your films to make their appearance.

Our Story
in 2009 as an informal project to showcase independent cinema in the recondite alleys of Alfama, projected against its iconic stone walls.

In the following years, Cinalfama matured and became a competitive event of an international character, as well as a cultural reference in Lisbon.

The nature of the events has changed over the years, but the atmosphere, films and venues remain as intimate as they have always been.

Our Home
Founded in 1914, Grupo Sportivo Adicense is one of the oldest and most authentic remaining symbols of Alfama’s true soul.

World famous fado singers started their careers waiting tables at this historical institution – one that still stands in the face of constant change and mischaracterisation of the neighbourhood’s urban landscape

Screening Sessions

Tucked into the backstreets of Lisbon’s old town, Alfama, our intimate screenings take place in the city’s oldest cultural house, Grupo Sportivo Adicense.

We host three seasonal screening editions throughout the year, to showcase and award the best talent and films of each one. These are free entrance and all films have English subtitles.

Due to the current pandemic and associated restrictions, we have decided to host next January 2024 edition online, making available a selection of the very best films of the season. Aiming to have live screenings back real soon.

At the origin of this event, which takes place every two years in Locronan, Finistère, a common passion for cinema and gastronomy; and 2 books we wrote: «les petits plats du grand écran» (1999) and Ciné-bouffe (2001) ; then a 1st International Film and Gastronomy Festival in Dijon, (2004 and 2005).

It is therefore with a gourmet pleasure that we decided to pay tribute, through this festival, to the delicious films (squeaky or greedy) evoking gastronomy, and the most exquisite table scenes to try to understand why and how they were cooked by the directors who imagined them.

We also have the desire to use cinema to create a bridge with good food, and to discover or rediscover the taste of cooking in order to make informed choices, to eat less unconsciously. It is therefore with an insatiable gastrosophical pleasure that we concocted the different themes of this event.

We say of our village, classified most beautiful village of France and city of character, where the oldest houses date from the sixteenth century, that it is a kind of small Holywwod of Brittany. It must be said that more than thirty feature films and series were shot there. Like Tess, Chouants, Un long dimanche de fiançailles....

The Simulizi (Storytelling) Festival is not just a mere event; it's a semi year-round, multidisciplinary storytelling initiative that goes beyond the boundaries of traditional festivals. This dynamic platform harnesses the expressive mediums of film to initiate positive transformations and ignite conversations among the vibrant youth.

Committed to investing in the authenticity of youth narratives, the Simulizi Festival becomes a fertile ground for fostering vibrant discussion on most pressing issues.

Within this secure and nurturing space, the festival beckons young individuals to step forward and share their personal stories, addressing critical social issues that often go unspoken. By catalyzing open dialogue, Simulizi Festival becomes a melting pot of ideas, inviting attendees to explore and address various aspects of society within a supportive and artistically charged atmosphere.

In a world where discussions about youth matters are frequently overlooked or met with discomfort, the Simulizi Festival stands tall as a beacon of change. It doesn't just host an event; it cultivates a movement that challenges the status quo, emphasizing the importance of youth perspectives.

The second edition of this transformative journey takes place in the heart of art in East Africa, Dar Es Salaam, from the 26th of July to the 14th of December, 2024. It proudly stands as the first African-based youth film festival, utilizing the powerful medium of film to reach out to youth, both in and out of schools and colleges. The festival unfolds through a series of weekly film screenings, accompanied by thought-provoking debates and interactive Q&A sessions with protagonists, social activists, and government officials. This year, the festival expect to reach out more than 8,000 people across Tanzania mainland.

This festival is more than just a celebration; it is a testament to the power of storytelling and art in breaking down barriers, promoting understanding, and encouraging proactive engagement with pivotal societal issues. As the Simulizi Festival continues to evolve, its impact on youth empowerment and holistic well-being resonates outward, creating a brighter, well-informed future for all who engage with its vibrant tapestry of stories and perspectives.

11th version of the International Documentary Film Festival Globale - Bogotá
The Globale International Documentary Film Festival - Bogotá invites documentary filmmakers and audiovisual producers to submit proposals that revolve around utopias under
construction, that is, human and non-human resistance to live in freedom and autonomy.

About the festival
Globale—Critical and Emancipatory Perspectives is a non-profit and non-competitive festival that exhibits documentaries with political and social themes. It was founded in
Berlin in 2003 and later replicated in Warsaw, Montevideo, Rio de Janeiro, and Bogota, where it has been held since 2011.
Its objective is to generate scenarios of denunciation, dialogue, awareness, and analysis of reality based on the themes established for each version. Thus, it proposes
transforming established cultural, social, and economic models. For them, we resort to the documentary without a hierarchy of formats, media, qualities, or academic or
industrial validations.

About this version
In this version of the festival, we want to focus on utopias that inspire us to continue resisting the capitalist system of exploitation and domination. Therefore, we are interested
in hopeful audiovisual proposals of living and active struggles and propose the following sub-themes:
Nature in resistance:
Proposals that leave behind the anthropocentric paradigm and focus on different ecologies, organisms, and living systems and their ways of adapting to change through
strategies such as succession, regeneration, retaking, and creating relationships with other forms of life, among others. This theme also includes documentaries that present
other ways in which people relate to their living environment and, in doing so, refuse to participate in the destruction and instrumentalization of life that capitalism promotes.
Collectivities in resistance:
Documentaries that portray the strategies of self-organization, action, cooperation, and creation of networks and communities of collectivities that oppose the various forms of
oppression from places outside the state and its institutions, thereby building paths towards a freer and more supportive world.
Technologies in resistance:
We understand technology as a set of tools, techniques, skills, abilities, knowledge, and processes. From this perspective, we invite documentary proposals that portray
experiences where technology is part of collective or community processes that create autonomy, degrees of freedom, and other/new ways of relating between ecosystems.
