Flagler Film Festival

Palm Coast, United States

The Flagler Film Festival was formed to showcase the work of new and emerging filmmakers as well as more experienced filmmakers. We believe there are many creative and innovative artists who deserve recognition for their efforts, especially those constrained by low budgets. We believe that sometimes even more creativity is required when a filmmaker has little or no budget with which to create a film. We believe these films should be seen and be recognized for the efforts of the teams that put them together. The writers, directors, crew, actors and all the talented people involved in the production of a film, whether it is a feature or a short, deserve to have a chance to be seen. We are proud to give filmmakers an opportunity to show their work.

Our fourth annual Flagler Film Festival showcased many fantastic films from around the world, including a short animation which was nominated this year for an Academy Award! Films produced by students from Florida State University, NYU, University of Virginia, Savannah College of Art & Design, Full Sail University, and the American Film Institute were screened as well as films from graduates of many other fine colleges and universities. We were proud to showcase local filmmakers as well as filmmakers from such diverse locations as Luxembourg, Spain, France, Rwanda, Australia, Nepal, Canada, Serbia, Iran, and Peru. As an artistic community, we enjoy including musicians, writers and artists at our festival as well as filmmakers. This year our special guest was Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Inductee Steve Boone, of the '60's band The Lovin' Spoonful. Steve met many of our audience and signed CDs, albums and his new book, "Hotter than a Match Head: On the Run with the Lovin' Spoonful." We showcased a short comedy from actor Chris Roach who currently stars on CBS in "Kevin Can Wait" with Kevin James. One of our documentaries, "Daddy Don't Go" was recently picked up by Starz and will be available to the public!

The third annual Flagler Film Festival was proud to showcase amazing films from around the world. We had a film about a Grammy-nominated children's choir from Uganda called "Imba Means Sing" (now in national distribution), a documentary film by an Emmy Award winning filmmaker, a film narrated by the Academy Award winning, legendary actress Olivia De Havilland, two films which won student Emmy Awards and two films which were screened at the Cannes Short Film Corner. We were very proud to be the only festival in Florida to screen "Animals" an independent feature film written by and starring David Dastmalchian (Ant Man, The Dark Knight) now in national distribution. In addition, we had a terrific assortment of low budget, independent and student films which amazed our audience. Over 20 films had representation at the festival with lively, emotional and intelligent Q&As after the screenings. See our website for videos of the Q&As in addition to the list of films, extensive press and awards.

So far, two of our Best Documentary Feature Nominees from our 3rd Annual Festival have announced national distribution deals. Both "My Father's Vietnam" (winner) and nominee "Mount Lawrence" will be seen this spring on VOD platforms as well as other formats, including theatrical. Please see their websites or IMDb for more info and congratulations to them from the festival!

Our second annual festival showcased excellent student and small budget films as well as films with extraordinary credentials, including a film written by two-time Academy Award winning screenwriter, Horton Foote (To Kill a Mockingbird). We were proud to have as our special guest, Laura Tyler, make up artist known for her work on "Face Off" and "Hunger Games." She did a special live demonstration for our audience by turning an actor into a zombie! Also in attendance was actress Evalena Marie (Serena and the RATTS, Dark Haul, Remains) representing the indie feature "Visionary." Our festivities concluded with a champagne awards celebration on our last evening.

We are very proud that several of our official selections from our first two years have received distribution and can be seen on Blu-Ray, DVD and streaming sites. Many of our selected films have gone on to win many awards at festivals around the world. We wish much success to all the filmmakers out there!

Flagler Film Festival announced our new association with Renny Roker, film and television actor, writer and producer. Renny has appeared in or starred in 47 films and over 400 television episodes in his career. He is currently producing new projects in the Flagler County area. He also mentors college students and does charity work. We are thrilled to have his support and through his worldwide contacts in the film industry, we will be expanding our presence in the festival world.

Flagler Film Festival was inspired by the amazingly talented people we have met who perform all the hard work that is required to make a film. We recognize that there are many creative filmmakers who are looking for a place to showcase their work. We are located in a relaxed, pristine beach area with community members who support the arts. Galleries, live theater and now a film festival are part of our small city located in beautiful Flagler County, Florida. Our coastal location is within a short distance to many Florida attractions. If you are a filmmaker who has drive and talent, who is looking for a place to show your work, and is interested in Florida sunshine in January, we hope that you will submit your film for consideration in our festival.

The Flagler Film Festival was created by independent filmmakers for independent filmmakers. Wolfe Productions, LLC and Cashback International, Inc. are the co-founders of the Flagler Film Festival.

We will be showcasing feature films and shorts of all genres. If you believe in your film, we will do our very best to recognize your talent and efforts and include your work in our festival. Special consideration will be given to student films.

The Flagler Film Festival is pleased to announce our affiliation with 10th Voyage Studios of Palm Coast, Florida, a full service motion picture production company. Plan to visit a movie studio during your visit to the festival.

Many exciting new events to be announced in the near future, along with prizes for filmmakers.

WHY THIS AWARD PRIZE NACIONAL DE CORTOMETRAJES "JAIME OSORIO GÓMEZ"

Community of Viterbo Caldas, has not been sufficiently fair or not had taken seriously the importance that has for a municipality that one of their children has such an impact in a trade, or art, and even more so at levels that managed it to do the Mr JAIME OSORIO GÓMEZ, who was born in ViterboCaldas, on March 7, 1947 and studied law at the Autonomous University of Colombia.

In the 1970 began to conduct business and to court political documentaries, such as Chile does not surrender, hell. He was a professor at the National University of Colombia and the school of cinema and Television of San Antonio de los Baños in Cuba, in addition to representing the Colombian producers in the Board of Directors of Proimágenes in motion. He directed the medium-length films all rights reserved, ceremony of the Benkuna and life or death, where are already insinuating clearly the characters of confession to Laura. In the 1980 was the producer of tropical snow, the Emberá and my Macondo and was Assistant Director and production of two films by Lisandro Duque: Visa USA and miracle in Rome. In 1990 he participated in the lab of the Sundance Institute directed by Robert Redford with the confession project scripts to Laura, which a year later became his debut film. In 1991 he was general producer of Nazca, series television Española, shot in 21 countries of Latin America, in addition to production of the film l'enfant du Bont du Monde for French television. But would miss more things: was the co-producer of the Virgin of assassins, Barbet Schroeder; Producer and actor of Maria full of grace of Joshua Marston and also produced La Sombra del caminante of Ciro Guerra. At the time of his death he was working on multiple film projects in various stages of production, such as Satan, directed by Andi Baiz; Child's play, directed by Carlos César Arbelaez; The taxidermist, directed by Luis Alberto Restrepo; the project colors of the mountain, also of Carlos César Arbelaez, and the feature film time of the Lions, written by himself and Jaime Escallón Buraglia. "Those who had the pleasure to shake his hand, understand the size of the huge loss that took the Colombian cinema with his departure" one of the people who have contributed most to our film to reach the upper echelons; for all the above we got in the task of creating the "Prix national of short films JAIME OSORIO GÓMEZ". Posthumous and well-deserved tribute to the mentioned in question.

Hell“s Half Mile Film & Music Festival

Bay City, United States

MISSION & OBJECTIVE

The Hell's Half Mile Film & Music Festival (HHM) is the perfect mix of independent film and live indie music. Still under the radar, but we’re starting to make an impact with our guests.

"I don't remember much of my two years going to Hell's Half Mile. That's how much fun I had." – Rider Strong, “Cabin Fever” and two time guest.

Our taste is eclectic, everything from quirky comedies to hard hitting documentaries to emotional drama. Our goal is to find "the little film that could" -- a bunch of them actually -- and bring the filmmakers together to take over Bay City, MI. Our primary concern is community, and the filmmakers who attend our long weekend walk away with lifelong friends and future collaborators.

"I’ve been to SXSW several times, San Francisco, a bunch of smaller festivals all over the U.S. It [Hell’s Half Mile] feels like the real deal. It’s people who genuinely love film, love the independent film community. The quality and lineup is incredible” – Ashley Spillers "Arlo and Julie"

Over the last ten years over 100 directors, producers, screenwriters and actors have joined our growing audience. We provide travel and accommodations to a select number of filmmakers, plus all-access passes and catered receptions. All of our venues are within a few block radius and hotels are within walking distance, making it super easy to get around. Visit hhmfest.com for links to the venues and video recaps of previous festivals. We schedule events to help you with other filmmakers, musicians, movie fans, and our supportive local community. Our goal is to provide you with a professional, casual and fun experience during your stay with us, including unique outings that give you a taste of the local flavor. It’s the least we can do in return for providing our festival-goers with great independent cinema.

Once your festival experience ends, Hell’s Half Mile looks to the future. HHM alumni receive fee waivers for future projects and all-access passes for subsequent year’s festivals, whether you have a film in our program or not. We continue to support alumni projects through social media and newsletters celebrating victories and other milestones through our growing network of filmmakers and film lovers.

“Hell's Half Mile gives me warm feelings in my heart. The warm feeling in my pants is possibly unrelated. It’s worth every minute and it's the kind of festival that you make movies for.” – Kenny Stevenson, writer and actor, "Love, Sex and Missed Connections".

Guests are not left alone to fend for themselves amidst our rabid audiences and interested community members. Programmers and organizers are ever present and ready with introductions, recommendations and the occasional swift exit from oversharers. Bay City nights are filled with raw rock and roll sounds giving us the moniker of “little Detroit”, especially into the wee hours at super-secret-after-parties. Daytime in Bay City is cool Fall days with sunny riverside strolls or bike rides past historic lumber baron mansions. Or, there are always plenty of great films to watch. Its up to you!

Filmmakers are also encouraged to participate in panel discussions, receptions and other events. We continue to foster student and local filmmaking, which provides opportunities for guest filmmakers to present a workshop or lecture focused on a specific topic or specialty. Other guests are invited to screen our student and local short films and give constructive feedback to the filmmakers. This type of mentoring helps to strengthen local filmmaking and continue our relationships with area universities.

Hell’s Half Mile, ranked 27th in Moviemaker Magazine’s Top 25 Coolest Film Festivals of 2016. Just a prediction.

ABOUT THE FESTIVAL
After ten years, Hell’s Half Mile organizers continue to strive to be an innovative festival for genuinely independent films and original music. This festival is about connecting the filmmaker and the festival-goer. Period. Well, and parties too.

In addition to relentless promotion of films, Hell’s Half Mile recognizes and rewards films with jury, programmer and audience awards, some with prizes. Prizes include a cash prize of $1000 for the Grand Jury Award, as well as other valued prizes. Grand Jury Winners include the controversial “Lamb” (2015), the Icelandic “Metalhead” (2014), and the acclaimed documentary "Remote Area Medical" (2013). Past jurors include Damien Chazelle (Whiplash), Adam Busch (Buffy the Vampire Slayer), Adam Schartoff (Filmwax Radio), Jasmine McGlade (Maria My Love), Joey Kern (“Super Troopers”), Geoff Marslett (Loves Her Gun), WAW Parker (Guy and Madeline on a Park Bench), Rider Strong (Cabin Fever), Leslie Raymond (Ann Arbor Film Festival), Mark Covino (A Band Called Death), Michael Dunaway (Paste Magazine), Joel Potrykus (Buzzard) and Jeff Meyers (Metro Times).

Each year we screen great narrative films, like the Midwest Premiere of Terry McMahon’s “Patrick’s Day” jury award winner for Best Feature at the 2014 Woodstock Film Festival, and winner of the Hell’s Half Mile jury award for Best Screenplay. Quirky comedies like James Westby’s “Rid of Me” and Neil LaBute’s “Dirty Weekend” have been big hits with HHM audiences. Co-director Mark Covino attended with the international hit "A Band Called Death" which won the HHM "Fest Best" award. Rider Strong has been a guest at HHM with four amazing films over two years, including “The Dungeon Master,” written and directed with his brother Shiloh and winner of the 2011 Tribeca Film Festival Best (Online) Short Film. Visit hhmfest.com for complete lists of all films presented.

Some of the great music we’ve had over the years connects our film and music events. Matt Pond PA joined us at HHM in 2010. This same year, screening at the festival was “Lebanon PA,” with original score by Matt Pond and Chris Hansen of Matt Pond PA. Another great band that performed at HHM in 2011 was The One AM Radio, led by Hrishikesh Hirway who also did the original music for the 2012 feature film “Save the Date.” Visit hhmfest.com for lists and links of previous music performers.

HHM, a partnership with the Bay Arts Council, utilizes a unique mix of venues including Bay City’s historic Mayan themed State Theatre, the Delta College Planetarium, and a turn-of-the-century red sandstone former Masonic Temple, saved from demolition by the Bay Arts Council. Likewise, the Hell’s Half Mile programmers are looking for the right mix of creative and challenging works, including those from underserved segments of the film community, to bring to our seriously appreciative audiences. We hope you’ll consider us.

What's with the name?
In the late 1800's, a stretch of Bay City's riverfront was lined with raucous saloons and two-bit hotels where turn-of-the-century loggers and shipmen would go to blow off steam and take in more than a little local color. This strip was known to locals as Hell's Half Mile. "'Hell's Half Mile' was the strip of waterfront where lumberjacks used to go boozing and whoring. Now, a bunch of us from Hollywood go there for a film festival. Not much has changed." – Rider Strong

Time has passed, but the same rough-and-tumble spirit of the day is reborn in the Hell's Half Mile Film & Music Festival. Today, the city boasts a beautiful downtown riverfront with boutiques, restaurants, theatres, pubs, hotel accommodations and other points of interest....a state of the art planetarium, art galleries, a thriving business community, and an active shipping lane for Great Lakes freighters...Downtown Bay City is alive with activity.

MACAU INTERNATIONAL SHORT FILM FESTIVAL (“FESTIVAL”) is an annual worldwide audio-visual festival that aims to motivate overseas and Macau short film and music videos productions to compete in this FESTIVAL.

The Festival compromises two separate competitions:
- SHORTS International Short Film Competition
- VOLUME International Music Video Competition

“SHORTS” awards the best shorts-films in the three categories of Fiction, Documentary, and Animation. And “VOLUME” awards the best winning music video incorporating Macau original music. A list of Macau original songs is available on the Festival's WEBSITE for download purposely for VOLUME.

SHORTS is open for submission from 16 March to 16 June 2024, and VOLUME is open for submission from 16 March to 20 July 2024.

The Festival was previously known as "Sound & Image Challenge" and was first launched in 2010 focusing only on an audiovisual competition for local talent. This initiative was co-founded with professionals in film, music, sound and image fields, with two priorities: to promote the Creative Industries in the audiovisual sector and highlight the local talents in the production of sound and moving image design. Over the years, it expanded across 5 continents, grew and gained recognition, and finally became a short film festival in 2015.

The Festival will be held from 3 to 10 December 2024. A series of cultural programs will be scheduled in venues throughout Macau during the Festival week, such as public screenings of “SHORTS” official selection and “VOLUME” music videos official selection, Masterclasses of film production, development, International Film Festival curatorship and organising; audience voting for “Audience Choice”; as well as gala awards ceremony.
