The festival had its first edition in 2013 and has been organized annually since then by Associação Cultural Periferias in Portugal and Gato Pardo in Spain.
The project was born from a citizen initiative, supported by the municipality of Marvão from the beginning, and grew thanks to the support of diverse sponsors and collaborators.
Meanwhile, a new step was taken with the inclusion of Valencia de Alcântara (Spain) on the Festival map, thanks to the interest and involvement of the local government, Filmoteca de Extremadura and Diputación de Cáceres.
It is the intention of the organizers to contribute to an effective cultural decentralization.
We want to make accessible goods and services traditionally concentrated in big cities and which hardly reach rural populations.
EYESIGHT
We believe that it is possible, with this strategy, to locally implement a film culture that, in the medium term, allows for the creation of a more conscious audience endowed with a plural thinking that promotes contact with art, not only as a space for leisure, but as a critical thinking platform that reflects and interacts with today's world.
The organization of the festival, with all the activities and logistics involved, constitutes a significant boost to economic activity in the most diverse areas.
We offer an opportunity for the promotion and dissemination of local products and brands. We create conditions to attract tourism flows, especially tourism that is more committed to cultural and ecological aspects.
We contribute to the local, national and international dissemination of the brand and socio-cultural identity of the municipalities of Marvão and Valencia de Alcântara.
Welcome to REELS ON WHEELS! From September 16th until September 23rd REELS ON WHEELS will be held at KINO IM KÜNSTLERHAUS in Hannover/Germany. During this week we will present a varied overview of contemporary cinema. The festival is an unconventional take on the actual cinema and film scene in Germany and an innovative way of re-thinking film screenings in the 21st century.

Meet the best films and filmmakers of the Danube region on 1st to 5th October, 2024. The 7th Blue Danube Film Festival will take place in Vienna, Budapest and Bratislava.
The Blue Danube Film Festival is a film festival, which showcases independent films from the Danube region. We encourage creativity and experimentation. We are open to all kinds of films. The Blue Danube Film Festival aims to inspire and motivate talented filmmakers, who are looking to engender new forms and who explore the condition of our society through critical lens.
Films are evaluated by our professional jury within the context of their entry category with regards to generally accepted filmmaking quality criteria (ie.: subjective vision, production quality, aesthetic position, structure, cinematography, direction, creativity, etc.).
We screen the selected films in Vienna, Budapest and Bratislava in art cinemas and cultural centers.
We can only accept films by directors from the following 18 Countries in the broader Danube region and CEI member countries: Germany, Austria, Slovakia, Hungary, Croatia, Serbia, Romania, Bulgaria, Moldova, Ukraine, Italy, Slovenia, Poland, Czech Republic, Montenegro, North Macedonia, Albania and Bosnia and Herzegovina.
BDFF 2024 is the region's first film festival that actually crosses borders. It will “Sail up” the Danube from Budapest via Bratislava to Vienna. We show the audience approx. ten feature-length and forty short films in the three cities and five festival locations.
During the festival, two juries (long and short films) will evaluate the films and the winners who (if the budget allows it) receives not only media attention but also prize money.
Three super-short films under five minutes will be selected and promoted using the augmented reality app ARGO can also be brought to life on posters and flyers.
We will invite the directors of the best films of the above mentioned countries. Upon arriving to Budapest, the guests will be taking part in the opening ceremony of the festival, in screenings, post-screening talks and meetings with the spectators.
There will be a small conference, will focus on possible professional cooperation in the region with the aim of establishing a CEI young filmmaker’s forum in the format that best suits our guests.

In 2018, Almagro International Film Festival -AIFF- born with the aim of establishing a useful platform for the promotion of the audiovisual industry: a space and time for dissemination and promotion of audiovisual content, transforming the city of Almagro into a meeting point for filmmakers, favoring the exchange of initiatives and promoting a market open to the development of new projects.

Montevideo Fantastic Film Festival is the first Uruguayan festival dedicated to promoting national and international film productions related to horror, fantasy and science fiction genres. Its objective is to annually present independent and ultra-independent creations that are often considered "minor", and that hardly access commercial and cultural circuits.
It has sections related to short and long feature films in competition, as well as exhibitions, tributes to different figures of the genre, lectures presented by specialists, and promotion of different cultural activities that occur in the country.

The Barichara Green Film Festival FESTIVER, created by Colombian actors Toto Vega and Nórida Rodríguez, seeks to build a new generation of artists and audience commited to the environment. Through its screenings and a continuous search for resources to create environmental film content, FESTIVER aims to educate and entertain by developing academic, artistic and recreational activities which enrich the Colombian cultural landscape and help build a better world. The 13th edition will take place on September 21-24, 2023 in Barichara, Santander, Colombia.
The International Festival of Intergenerational Short Films on the Elderly (FICMA) was born within the Federation of Associations of the Elderly of Salamanca (FAMASA) with the aim of providing a cultural offer that contributes to improving the quality of life of the elderly, even with dependence or disfunctions by bringing them closer to a full citizenship and offering the cultural heritage of which they are protagonists. It is celebrated every year between September and October since 2016 in the city of Salamanca, being a meeting of intergenerational culture
The Festival poses as a place of debate and discourse for questions such as: How has cinema treated old age? The reflection of the role of the elderly in the family, sentimental, emotional and social relationships. The positive or negative consequences of cinema into stereotypes and believings about the elder and even if it treats the same way both man and women.
The importance of dignifying the intergenerational relationships between youngsters and elderlies becames vital in order to find ways towards a better future.
OBJECTIVES
The goal of the FICMA is to archieve the people from Salamanca to be closer to the cinema from a third age perspective. This festival is a golden opportunity to offer a cinema party to the city and an active and positive vision from this part of the population.
The festival has as a goal to show the positive part of the elders and to reforce the intergenerationals relationships.
Bajo Nuestra Piel International Film Festival on Human Rights is a project that aims to generate a debate and reflective space on Human Rights topics through the artistic representation in documental, fiction and animation format, of critical, socially compromised and quality cinema.
Skepto International Film Festival is a competitive festival dedicated to short films, without restrictions on subject matter, style, or production budget. The main goal of the festival is to give visibility to independent filmmakers from all over the world and to build an open space where they can freely exchange ideas. Video productions of any genre or style are allowed. Audiovisuals created through the use of artificial intelligence in all its forms are also included.
The thirteenth edition of the festival will take place in Cagliari from October 2023 to June 2024: the main competition will be held in October 2023 in Cagliari, and there will also be two side events at locations to be identified in Italy and/or Europe and to be held at later dates, in any case by June 2024. Born as the Amateur Film Festival of Vilagarcía in 1973, the Curtas Film Fest has been held uninterruptedly in Vilagarcía de Arousa. It’s the film festival dean of Galicia and one of the contests with more tradition of Spain. Specialized in fantastic cinema.
The Liège International Comedy Film Festival explores daring, popular and unifying cinema, through a unique competition: it is the only festival in Europe to program international comedies (and sentimental, dramatic, social or horrific). The only one, also, to reward them with a Golden or Crystal Bull. Every year, since 2016, it has presented nearly twenty feature films and around thirty short films, from the four corners of the world.
Es un concurso de cortos organizado por el Ayuntamiento de Cádiar, en colaboración con la Diputación de Granada y el Centro Guadalinfo de Cádiar. Los objetivos del festival son:

The International Horror and Fantasy Film Week of La Costa del Sol is a film festival of the horror and fantasy genre that is held annually. The first edition was held from September 11 to 16, 2000. On that occasion,
the winning film of the Golden Unicorn was The Ring, which was a blockbuster in our country. The edition paid tribute to the British actress Caroline Muro, a fetish actress of horror films, with the screening of the film ‘The howl of the devil’, directed by Paul Naschy, and a ‘tribute to ghosterrorific Cinema’ was made with
the screening of films by Narciso Ibáñez Serrador (La residencia, ¿Quién puede matar a un niño?), Jesús Franco (Gritos en la noche, El Conde Drácula). To this day, editions keep being added, this year the XXV
edition of the Festival is celebrated. This year the short film section is reinvented, being coordinated by Miguel Carrillo.
DIGO – I International Film Festival on Gender and Sexual Diversity of Goiás, is the first film festival in the heart of Brazil to address issues such as Diversity, Gender and Sexuality, by showcasing contemporary audiovisual work and urging historical reviews. ASUFICC - International Contemporary Film Festival of Asuncion is an event born with the aim of bringing contemporary cinema from around the world, through unique authors with works that take risks and invite reflection. Emphasizing social issues that empathize with the Asuncion and Paraguayan society, it seeks, through a program of cinematographic excellence, to form spectators with greater sensitivity and greater awareness of the cinematic experience and the problems of society. Likewise, it seeks to be a space for meeting and promotion of national creators.
El Festival de Cine Curto de Ribadeo es un festival de cortometrajes que nace con el propósito de promocionar los proyectos audiovisuales propios de A Mariña Lucense y, por extensión, las Comunidades de Galicia y Asturias, o que tengan miembros participantes relacionados con dichas zonas. La 3a edición del Festival tendrá lugar en Ribadeo durante la segunda semana de agosto en varias localizaciones de este municipio.
