This year's EMMY AWARDS, had a sparkling amount of DWF alums, from presenting to sitting in the audience, including 2011 & 2012 alum, Gina Rodriguez presenting on stage to 2006 alum Alexander Skarsgard winning Best Supporting Actor to 2007 & 2012 alum Joel Watson, nominated for editing SHARK TANK. DWF has had many filmmakers go on to create series, such as the highly rated THE LAST SHIP, created by 2000 alum, Steven Kane. HBO’s critically acclaimed and hit series ‘Getting On” and “Big Love” were created by DWF Alums Will Scheffer and Mark Olsen after screening their feature film "Easter" at DWF 2004. Our TV/Web division, premiered TREADING YESTERDAY in 2016, which in now in development for a series. Jeremy Cloe, 2015 alum & ICA winner, recently won a student ACADEMY AWARD.
2008 actor alum Jesse Eisenberg was nominated for Best Actor in "The Social Network" for the 2011 Academy Awards. 2010 Audience Award winner "Go For It!" received a nationwide theatrical release through Lionsgate in 2011. Betsy Brandt "Breaking Bad'' & “Parenthood” was seen early on in her career in the Grand Jury Winner of 2005, "Shelf Life." 2 Minute Short Film Challenge
And on the creative side, DWF also produces up to ten short films during the week of the festival. The 2 Minute Short Film Challenge has become an exciting favorite program at the festival. Utilizing the latest digital technology and pure filmmaking ingenuity, submitted scripts are shot, edited and screened in front of evening competition films during the festival.
Academy® Qualification:
We also qualify a slate of shorts for Academy Award® consideration through our friends at Laemmle Theatres and Double Exposure in Los Angeles. Short films that premiere with us actually have a higher possibility of being Academy® qualified than most any other short film competition in the country.

XII Festival Internacional de Cortometrajes
de Pineda de Mar
El Comité organizador de CINEMART, en reunión celebrada el 18 de octubre de 2025, aprueba convocar la 12ª edición del Festival Internacional de Cortometrajes de Pineda de Mar para el año 2026 y establece que las nuevas bases.
El Festival Internacional de Cortometrajes Psarokokalo es un festival anual que se celebra en Grecia desde 2007. El festival tiene como objetivo ofrecer un escaparate para el trabajo de nuevos cineastas de todo el mundo y promover la diversidad y la riqueza del cortometraje. El festival forma parte de un proyecto que tiene como objetivo investigar, promover y desarrollar el arte cinematográfico. El programa del festival incluye proyecciones de cortometrajes de Grecia y del extranjero, así como eventos audiovisuales, conferencias, clases magistrales, exposiciones y conciertos en vivo. La calidad de sus proyecciones, conferencias y exposiciones lo ha convertido en un punto de referencia para cinéfilos, cineastas, profesionales y nuevos artistas. Cada año, las actividades del festival se ampliaron, recibiendo más participación de diferentes países y recibiendo un mayor apoyo de cineastas y profesionales. El festival tiene como objetivo cruzar las fronteras para desarrollar un espíritu de amistad y cooperación con festivales internacionales y cineastas de todo el mundo. IN THE PALACE El ISFF es un punto de encuentro cultural entre la industria cinematográfica, los artistas, los estudiantes, las instituciones educativas y el público en general, ya que brinda acceso a la industria, las tendencias y los avances, y al aprendizaje en las artes y la cultura a través de exposiciones, capacitación e intercambio interdisciplinario.
El I Festival de Cortos y Salud Mental, promovido por los Hospitales Universitarios Virgen Macarena y Virgen del Rocío de Sevilla y la Asociación de Familiares, Allegados y Personas con Trastorno Mental Grave (ASAENES),con la colaboración de la Fundación Audiovisual de Andalucía; tiene como objetivo principal desestigmatizar la Enfermedad Mental por medio de visiones positivas que den a ver a la sociedad aspectos desconocidos de las personas con esta problemática y sus familiares, el estigma que sobre ellos y ellas recae, así como los mitos y verdades de las enfermedades mentales graves, con el único fin de sensibilizar y acercar a la población esta enfermedad aumentando la información. Una buena manera de contar al mundo esta realidad es a través de la realización de cortos que, captando la esencia con un enfoque positivo y las visiones que destaquen la integración social de las personas con enfermedad mental grave, muestren la realidad de cuantos y cuantas padecen algún tipo de dificultad en su mente.
Somos el festival de cortometrajes pionero en el género Freak y además nos gusta muchísmo el terror y el fantástico. Llevamos ya 26 años y tenemos un público fabuloso: 1.800 personas por noche a las que mostrar vuestros cortometrajes; además de importantes premios en metálico. Historia:
El Festival de Cine anual se estableció en Viena en 2003. Desde entonces, se convirtió en un evento anual y se ha expandido principalmente en Alemania.

A special point for most photographers who travel into the undiscovered parts of this magnificent country, 'India Is… Undiscovered’ reveals India's rich natural heritage to the world. Through documenting animals or landscapes, here's a theme that can encourage participants and viewers to UNDISCOVERED take a look away from the cities.
El Festival de Cortometrajes de Prokuplje, fundado en 2011, es el festival de cine más joven de Serbia. En Prokplje hay un evento en el que el público puede ver lo mejor del campo del documental, el experimento, la animación y la ficción de todo el mundo. Miles de películas de todo el mundo llegan a la sede del festival, y así lo han reflejado las numerosas audiencias de Prokuplje, pero también de otras ciudades de Serbia y de la región, ya que el equipo organiza una gira en la que se presentan las mejores películas en más de 30 ciudades. Además de trabajar con los jóvenes de Prokuplje, el Club de Cine de Prokuplje es el primero en empezar a animar al público de las zonas rurales, que están completamente excluidas de todos los eventos, especialmente los culturales.

Women in Film
Women play an important role in filmmaking and there are many talents out there and to celebrate Women in Film we have two categories. One programme is a focus solely on Women directors, the second programme category will focus the work of women practitioners in the roles of writers, actresses, producers and Directors of Cinematography but please note the film lead roles must be female led. If you have a film that has a strong female led role or strong female writer etc and you want to be considered for this sectin of the festival please submit to the Women Practitioners category. Film Directors should submit to the Women in Film (directors category).
General Information.
Established in 1995 the festival is now in it's 16th International Shorts edition. Kinofilm has a unique reputation for showcasing the best short films from around the world, whilst being renowned for seeking out diverse, challenging and groundbreaking new films. We welcome filmmakers that are pushing the boundaries of the short film art form. The festival maintains a high standard with many European & International award-winning shorts featured in the Festival. It includes special programmes in North West Shorts (UK), British New Wave, Euro Cine, International Panorama, Kino Exposed (student and youth shorts), low/no budget shorts, Animation and various themed programmes, giving new and emerging filmmakers the opportunity to have their work screened alongside that of critically acclaimed, established short filmmakers.
Please note for 2019, the festival will move dates to February 2020. We will further welcome short films and animations from Eastern Europe as we extend the Polish festival to include more Baltic countries. This year we welcome films for this section from Romania and Russia.
As part of out 16th anniversary we are introducing a features section called Transitions for those short filmmakers that have successfully made the transition from short film to feature. This section is for previous entrants of Kinofilm Festival and can only be entered if you have previously had a short film at Kinofilm Festival. You must provide the name of the short film and year of the festival it was screened in advance of submitting..
All short films should have been completed since January 2018 to present and be no longer than 20 mins (accept documentaries which can be up to 23 mins including credits). PLEASE NOTE FILMS SHOULD NOT BE ONLINE FOR PUBLIC VIEWING. ANY FILMS THAT ARE SEEN TO BE IN THE PUBLIC DOMAIN WILL FACE DISQUALIFICATION.
WE ARE OFFERING STUDENTS (world wide) , GREATER MANCHESTER FILMMAKERS, Youths and community groups, Eastern European Filmmakers and Alumni Filmmakers 20% OF ALL SUBMISSION FEES (please see offers at the top of this entry). The discount is automatically applied when you submit your film to the relevant sections, entry fees start at just $10.00 Please note PROOF OF ELIGIBILITY MUST BE SHOWN in all these categories in advance of submitting the film, you will then receive a code to submit your film.
IRANIAN Filmmakers can submit for free (see above details).
Please note, if your film is selected for screening in one of the cinema screenings you must be able to provide either a DCP or high-quality Bluray of your film. Please contact us if any issues with this and we will try to resolve it by showing the film in one of the other programmes not requiring either of these formats. If it playing in one of our other venues then we will require a digital version, details supplied if your film is accepted.
REFUNDS GIVEN ONLY IN THE FOLLOWING CIRCUMSTANCES: Please note if you make a genuine mistake and submit your film to us not realising that it does not fit all of the criteria, or you have to withdraw it for other reasons, we will refund your fee if the request is made only within the first two weeks from the date of submission. Films withdrawn later for other reasons such as you wish to withdraw it as your film has been accepted in another festival that requires premier status, will not receive a refund. (Please note that any refunds will be after FFW (8%) and PP (3.5%) commission fees already deducted from your fee, you will only be refunded the net amount that the festival receives).

4. To attract cinema goers and diverse audiences that would not normally experience the short film art form or film festivals.

En los comienzos del cine, con la aparición del cinematógrafo, los artistas de las diferentes vanguardias encontraron una nueva herramienta de expresión, llamada séptimo arte, que pronto fue adoptada por los grandes estudios.
Así, el espacio que ocupa el Festival Internacional de Cine de Santander — Picknic Film Festival, es un lugar en el que largometrajes de poca visibilidad y distribución, pero seleccionados en importantes festivales de cine, y contando con el beneplácito de la crítica especializada, tienen la posibilidad de ser difundidos.
