The Fine Arts Film Festival (FAFF) is dedicated to showing the finest films in the world about art, photography, collectors and artists of all mediums in and out of their studios, galleries, museums, public art, and alternative art spaces. This includes video art, curated as a film medium.
The 5th Annual Fine Arts Film Festival will be held on May 10-12, 2018. We're opening up with the VR Section of the Festival at Creative Technology Center on May 10, then moving to the historic Beyond Baroque Literary Arts Center Theatre on May 11-12, which is celebrating it's 50th Anniversary in 2018.
The 4th Annual 2017 Fine Arts Film festival was held on May 12-13th with celebrities and luminaries from both the art and entertainment worlds hosted by the Venice Institute of Contemporary Art at the Creative Technology Center at The Brewery Art Lofts, Art Share LA, and at the historic Beyond Baroque Theatre in Venice, California.
We screened 48 films from around the world, with over 170 submissions.

„Erinnerung an die Zukunft//La mémoire de l'avenir“
Das Center for Common Memory for Democracy and Peace (CMCDP), eine nationale Menschenrechtsorganisation mit internationaler Reichweite, eröffnet hiermit die Aufforderung zur Einreichung von Filmen für die 15. Ausgabe des International Festival of Cinema and Common Memory (FICMEC), das vom 30. Oktober bis 4. November 2026 in der Stadt Nador stattfindet.
Das CMCDP ist in den folgenden Aktionsbereichen tätig:
Probleme im Zusammenhang mit dem Gedächtnis und dem gemeinsamen Gedächtnis als Wissen und Expertise;
Verbreitung einer Kultur des Friedens, der Koexistenz und der Demokratie;
Bekämpfung aller Formen von Extremismus;
Verteidigung der Menschenrechte und Beitrag zur Verbreitung ihrer Kultur;
Fragen der Identität und der sprachlichen und kulturellen Vielfalt;
Konsolidierung und Entwicklung der Werte der Solidarität und des konstruktiven Dialogs zwischen Völkern und Nationen;
Unterstützung aller Generationen von Menschenrechten.
Jedes Jahr schlägt FICMEC eine thematische Reflexion zum Thema Erinnerung vor. In dieser Ausgabe wird das zentrale Thema „Erinnerung an die Zukunft“ sein, inspiriert von Victor Hugos Worten: „Die Zukunft ist eine Tür, die Vergangenheit ist der Schlüssel“ und Roman Krznarics Idee, dass die Zukunft kein Ort ist, an den wir gehen, sondern ein Ort, den wir schaffen.
Erinnerung ist weder eine Übung in Nostalgie noch ein Blick, der in der Vergangenheit verankert ist. Es ist eine kollektive Verantwortung. Historische Ereignisse — insbesondere die schmerzhaftesten — zu bewahren, zu erklären und zu vermitteln, ist die Pflicht sowohl der Institutionen als auch der Gesellschaft insgesamt: Familien, Verbände, Menschenrechtsverteidiger, Künstler und Pädagogen. Die Vergangenheit zu verstehen ist ein bewusster Akt der Vorbereitung auf die Zukunft.
„Erinnerung an die Zukunft“ schlägt einen ständigen Dialog zwischen Erinnerung und Projektion, zwischen Gerechtigkeit und sozialem Wandel vor. Der Kampf gegen Ungerechtigkeit, die Prozesse der Wahrheit und Versöhnung, die Verteidigung der Menschenwürde und die Konsolidierung demokratischer Werte bilden die Grundlage für eine gerechtere Zukunft. Beim Erinnern geht es nicht darum, Ressentiments aufrechtzuerhalten, sondern darum, Bewusstsein zu schaffen, die Wiederholung von Verstößen zu verhindern und eine Kultur des Friedens zu stärken.
Neue Generationen nehmen in dieser Vision einen zentralen Platz ein. Sie sind nicht nur Aufbewahrungsorte für ererbte Erzählungen, sondern aktive Akteure, die in der Lage sind, Erinnerungen neu zu interpretieren, zu hinterfragen und in die Zukunft zu projizieren. Generationenübergreifende Weitergabe, kritisches Denken gegen historische Manipulation und Engagement für Menschenrechte sind wesentliche Elemente dieser Konstruktion.
Im künstlerischen und kulturellen Bereich wird das Kino — ob Dokumentarfilm oder Fiktion — zu einem bevorzugten Mittel, um zum Schweigen gebrachte Erinnerungen sichtbar zu machen, Ungerechtigkeiten anzuprangern, Räume für den Dialog zu öffnen und zur sozialen Transformation beizutragen.
Thematische Teilnahmebedingungen:
Spiel- und Kurzfilme (Fiktion, Animation): offenes Thema.
Dokumentarfilme: müssen speziell auf das Thema der Konzeptnotiz „Erinnerung an die Zukunft“ ausgerichtet sein und Fragen im Zusammenhang mit Erinnerung, Menschenrechten, Gerechtigkeit, generationenübergreifender Weitergabe, Versöhnung, Identität oder demokratischem Aufbau aus einer reflektierten und proaktiven Perspektive behandeln.
Filmemacher aller Nationalitäten sind eingeladen, Werke einzureichen, die dazu beitragen, durch Geschichtsbewusstsein über die Zukunft nachzudenken und Werte wie Gerechtigkeit, Frieden, Gleichheit, Koexistenz und die Rolle der Jugend in diesem Prozess zu fördern.
Filmeinreichungen werden ausschließlich über offizielle Registrierungsplattformen für Festivals akzeptiert.
Mit diesem Aufruf bekräftigen CMCDP und FICMEC ihr Engagement für ein aktives, ethisches und transformatives Gedächtnis. Sie sind überzeugt, dass nur diejenigen, die Verantwortung für die Vergangenheit übernehmen, zum Aufbau einer menschlicheren und demokratischeren Zukunft beitragen können.

NOFI is a multi stage International Festival of New and Original Films. It was founded by the Center of American New Cinema and Arts (CANCA). The preliminary stages take place in Russia, Sweden and Armenia while the final stage is taking place in USA (Los Angeles). Each year an estimated 1000 independent and student films participate in the NOFI festivals from 60 countries. We have representatives in 10 countries including USA, Russia, Sweden, Armenia, Belarus, UK,Belgium, Holland, Arab Emirates and Philippines.
The goal of the NOFI festivals is to find and invite talented film directors to NOFI film studying and producing programs for shooting their films with the help of our sponsors and grants. Winning films can also participate in NOFI sister’s film festivals in Korea, Poland, Germany, Estonia, Russia and Armenia. The best actors from the best films can join our “Accent” International Talent Management. Also the trailers of the awarded films will be in our web site for years, providing more exposure. Our festival helps expose new and emerging directors and actors. NOFI festivals give them an opportunity to present their names in motion pictures studios and be discovered in the film industry worldwide. NOFI is designed to showcase innovative work by new filmmakers who may (or may not) have been overlooked by other festivals. We organize forums and round tables with filmmakers during the NOFI festivals to understand their needs, help solve common problems with film production and discuss their future projects. Our slogan is- “Indie filmmakers without borders.” Many celebrities and representatives from film studios have attended screenings and award ceremonies of NOFI festivals.
