The RIOS - International Documentary Film Festival and Transmedia is defined as an activity platform for the creation and promotion of author projects within the scope of independent cinema and audiovisual and aims to:
a) give visibility, serving as a promotional platform, cinematographic and audiovisual works whose aesthetic approach is related to the reality of the river;
b) to serve as a work platform for a deep reflection on thematic documentary cinema;
c) encourage the creation of author projects that focus on the aesthetic deepening, the discovery of new territories, new styles and new supports that can define the reality Rivers;
d) create a creative platform linked to the Rios theme in the field of photography, plastic arts, literature and dramatic performance;
e) to contribute to the diffusion of first university works and documentaries in the thematic scope;
f) encourage the creation of inter-university partnerships in the field of documentary film and audiovisual.
The RIOS - International Documentary Film Festival and Transmedia, inserted in a region inevitably linked to the Douro, intends to explore and divulge the aesthetic potentialities linked to the river, making it a privileged space of cinematographic creation in the documentary scope. Vila Real, during the festival, will be an international cinematographic meeting point that will allow the exploration of the region and the gestation of new projects and new aesthetic creations.
Attention to all film talents: From 21 November 2017 until 31 January 2018, filmmakers will have the chance to apply for the LET’S CEE Short Film Competition 2018. Not only are two main prizes waiting to be won, moreover, ten finalists will receive an invitation to participate in the second edition of the LET’S CEE Talent Academy in Vienna!
Between 21 November 2017 and 31 January 2018, filmmakers up to the age of 35 from Central and Eastern Europe, the Caucasus region, Turkey and Austria will have the possibility to submit their short films to the Short Film Competition of the LET’S CEE Film Festival 2018.
However, filmmakers of all ages and from all over the world are welcome as well to send in thematically fitting contributions. Due to the festival’s geographical focus on CEE though, these short films will not be included in the main Short Film Competition, but will very well have the chance to win the Audience Award in the Short Film category and be screened at the festival in the section Short Films | Out of Competition. We furthermore cordially encourage international makers of virtual reality films, 3D productions and avant-garde pieces to apply as we will be offering these genres a stage at our festival as well.
The theme of the Short Film Competition 2018 is TOGETHER OR APART.
Great Britain voted for the Brexit last year and in doing so decided against a EU membership; most recently thousands of Catalan people went to the streets demanding independence from Spain; under the presidency of Donald Trump, the USA is seeking to withdraw from the Paris climate protection agreement and renegotiate various other commercial treaties – these are only three of many examples demonstrating the recent shift of the political mood in numerous countries. A growing migratory pressure, an increasing gap between the rich and poor, as well as justified and unsubstantiated fears – of the consequences of digitalisation, of the loss of jobs and stability and of social change – have discredited globalisation and encouraged a comeback of nationalist and isolationist tendencies, which seemed utterly unfathomable only a few years ago. Even on a national scale, societal cohesion appears to be threatened more and more. How does the growing division of society influence both the community and individuals? Will political agitation, hatred, egotism and greed for profit become the new normal? Well, the situation is critical, but not hopeless, neither on an international nor a national level. There are still representatives of the civil society who make no effort to surrender to the threatening eroding solidarity. Fortunately, there are numerous instances proving how people still advocate for the poor and disadvantaged with great optimism, dedication and empathy – people who rather pay attention to what we have in common instead of what keeps us apart.
The competition’s theme, TOGETHER OR APART, may be manifested in the submitted material in various manners and methods. Interpersonal aspects, such as family and relationship dramas, trials and tribulations, moments of success and happiness or the joint overcoming of challenges can be taken into account just as well as social, political, juridical and/or cultural matters. In other words: everything is possible, as long as it touches on the topic and is done well!
An advisory board chaired by the renowned Austrian-Iranian filmmakers Arash T. Riahi and Arman T. Riahi will choose the best contributions from the submissions for the LET’S CEE Short Film Competition. The short films, which will be screened out of competition, will be selected by the Bosnian-Dutch producer Denis Mujović and festival director Magdalena Żelasko.
After the presentation of the participating productions at the festival, an international jury will decide on the winner of the competing short films and, thus, who will be awarded the main prize – 1,500 Euro and a Urania statuette – at the Awards Ceremony in the Urania Cinema on 20 April 2018. The remaining short films presented during the festival will have, without exception, the chance to win the 1,500 Euro Audience Award in the category Short Film.
All filmmakers who will take part in the main Short Film Competition will additionally profit from their participation. At the expense of the festival, one of the involved filmmakers of each short film will be invited as an official guest*) to Vienna in order to present their work. Those persons will, furthermore, have the opportunity to join the second edition of the LET’S CEE Talent Academy.
15 remaining free seats for the Talent Academy will be filled by Out-of-Competition filmmakers. The most important items on the one-week Academy agenda include the attendance of LET’S CEE Master Classes and LET’S CEE Industry Days, the collaborative finalisation of a short film about Vienna, and the once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to pitch a film idea to Raindance film festival director Elliot Grove (and win big!) at the Pitching Competition. Of course, all invited filmmakers will enjoy several Get-togethers, where they can get in touch with successful distributors, directors, producers, actors etc., exchange experiences and new ideas and thus strive to new projects and international collaborations. In order to enable as many filmmakers as possible to visit LET’S CEE and present their work to the festival audience, all participants of the section ‘Short Films | Out of Competition’ will receive free festival accreditations and discounts for the official hotel partner on request.
Experimental Forum is an international performance, film and video art festival showcasing experimental film and artists’ moving image from new directors and innovative video artists from around the globe, with the third edition taking place in Los Angeles in November 2018. Our aim is to provide a supportive platform for the exciting and challenging work that is outside the scope of mainstream film festivals and art galleries.
We welcome experimental cinema pieces (abstract, narrative or documentary), video art works, essay films, artists’ moving image and media art, as well as documentary and narrative films that seek to expand, redefine or reconfigure the means and ends of their respective fields. Experimental Forum exists to provide access to, and develop audiences for, artists’ moving image work and is committed to engaging local audiences with new and/or unheard voices in film.
We are particularly interested in works made by early stage filmmakers and artists whose work is underrepresented. We provide a collaborative platform for moving image works made for the gallery and for the cinema with the aim of building a community across disciplinary and institutional faultlines.

Diese Veranstaltung, die vom Verein Screen for the Renewal of African Culture, kurz „ERECA“, initiiert wurde, bringt Schauspieler aus dem Kino und der Theaterkunst aus allen Teilen der Welt zusammen.
Das Thema dieser Ausgabe lautet „VON DER BÜHNE AUF DIE LEINWAND: FANTASIE ANREGEN, VÖLKER VERBINDEN UND KULTUREN VEREINEN“. Beiträge für Filme und Theateraufführungen, die während des Festivals im Wettbewerb und außerhalb des Wettbewerbs zu sehen sein werden, sind willkommen. In den letzten Jahrzehnten und mit dem Aufkommen neuer Technologien, die dazu geführt haben, dass die meisten Prozesse des Films gescannt wurden, hat der Dokumentarfilm auf der ganzen Welt ein berüchtigtes und systematisches Wachstum erlebt. In unserem Land, und das seit mehr als einem Jahrzehnt, hat eine Produktion, die zuvor fast ausschließlich mit Fiktion zu tun hatte, ihre Reihen um neue Themen, neue Herangehensweisen, neue Geografien und neue Dilemmas erweitert.
In diesem Zusammenhang wird FIDBA als 1. vorgeschlagen. Internationales Filmfestival, das diesem Genre gewidmet ist. Filme, die dieselben Fans haben - sofern wir der Meinung sind, dass sich die Formen und Machenschaften des Dokumentarfilms von denen des Fiktionsfilms unterscheiden -, sich untereinander und mit der Öffentlichkeit treffen und einen Dialog führen können. Wenn der Dokumentarfilm ein Treffpunkt für die FIDBA ist, dann insofern, als er eine Anfrage an die wenig bekannten Memoiren vorschlägt, die beunruhigende Gegenwart und (unsere) Zukunft in Schwebe halten. FIDBA wird dann ein Ansatz sein, der nicht nur Zuschauer, Filmemacher und Denker verbindet, sondern auch in Bezug auf die stets anregenden Möglichkeiten, diesen Raum für andere Grenzen und heterodoxe Ausdrucksformen zu öffnen, die in dem, was wir „Sachliteratur“ nennen würden, enthalten sind und die uns ermutigen, mit zeitgenössischen Ausdrucksformen zu sprechen, die sogar den Rahmen des Films sprengen.
Die FIDBA wird denjenigen Filmemachern besondere Aufmerksamkeit schenken, für die das Kino mit einer Form der Erforschung und Kenntnis der uns umgebenden Welt verbunden ist, was das Porträt von Menschen betrifft, deren Lebensbedingungen in bestimmten historischen und sozialen Kontexten es Ihnen ermöglichen, uns nach unseren zu fragen. Es sind also die Autoren, die nicht nur die Realität reflektieren, sondern auch die ethischen und moralischen Beziehungen, die das Filmen des anderen beinhalten.
Die FIDBA zielt darauf ab, Filmemachern, die versuchen, die Wahrnehmung der Realität zu erweitern, und für Filme, die einen Fortschritt in dem Bemühen darstellen, sie zu verstehen und zu antizipieren, zu helfen. Daher wird sie sich auf Filme konzentrieren, deren ästhetische Originalität nicht nur die Vorstellung vom Dokumentarfilm, sondern auch den Gedanken über denselben Film und seine Möglichkeiten gefährdet hat. Da dieser Fokus impliziert, den Status der realen Vorderseite der Kamera oder des Films in Bezug auf die Realität in Frage zu stellen, ist dies ebenso untrennbar mit den Mediationen verbunden, die entstehen.

Located in Stowe, Vermont, The Scout Film Festival (Scout) is an annual international event that celebrates emerging filmmakers through short film.
Every year, over the course of three days, this unique Vermont event celebrates emerging filmmakers worldwide. Scout honors the passions, talents and accomplishments of youth by showcasing the efforts young storytellers have made in original filmmaking. Scout is an event to enjoy the art of film and storytelling through the lens of our energetic next generation.
During Scout Film Festival budding filmmakers will come together with their peers and industry professionals to share, appreciate and hone their craft. Unser 1980 gegründetes Festival, das erste seiner Kategorie in Südkorea, hat sich vom Korean Short Film Festival zum Busan Asian Short Film Festival im Jahr 2000 und schließlich zum Busan International Short Film Festival 2010 entwickelt (www.bisff.org).
BISFF findet Ende April im Busan Cinema Center statt und verleiht ein Dutzend Auszeichnungen in drei Wettbewerbssektionen (Internationaler Wettbewerb, Koreanischer Wettbewerb und Operation Kino) und präsentiert gleichzeitig mehrere kuratierte, nicht wettbewerbsorientierte Bereiche, darunter: Guest Country, Korean Shorts, Asian Shorts, Prism, 3D Cinema usw.

Wir suchen nach Filmen, die zensiert, verboten oder auf Hindernisse gestoßen sind, um unter anderem aus politischen, sozialen, unternehmerischen, religiösen Gründen überall auf der Welt und in den letzten zwei Jahren ausgestellt zu werden.
Das Censurados Film Festival ist ein Filmfestival, das „das Kino, von dem sie nicht wollen, dass du es siehst“ verbreitet und sichtbar macht. Das in Peru ansässige Festival setzt sich durch die Vorführung von Filmen und die Organisation künstlerischer und pädagogischer Aktivitäten für Meinungsfreiheit, Menschenrechte und Vielfalt ein. Während der Filmveranstaltung wird auch ein Raum für den Dialog über Zensur geschaffen, in dem die Vielfalt der Stimmen, künstlerischen Ausdrucksformen und Ideen einen Ort finden kann, an dem sie koexistieren und sich frei ausdrücken können.

1. Zensur und Wettbewerb. Spiel-, Dokumentar-, Animations- und/oder kinematografische Experimentierfilme von überall auf der Welt, die unter anderem aufgrund von politischem, religiösem, unternehmerischem, autoritärem oder sozialem Druck oder Interessen zensiert wurden oder die Opfer von Drohungen und/oder Gewalt wurden, entweder während ihrer Untersuchung, Produktion oder Realisierung sowie bei ihrer Ausstellung und/oder ihrem Vertrieb. Es ist unerlässlich, nachweisbare Informationen über die Zensur, Bedrohung, den Druck oder die Gewalt bereitzustellen, denen der Film ausgesetzt war. Es werden zwei Scheren vergeben, eine für jede der folgenden Kategorien:
Schere für den besten zensierten Spielfilm (Dauer: +30 Minuten).
Schere für den besten zensierten Kurzfilm (Dauer: -30 Minuten).
2. Internationaler Wettbewerb. Spiel-, Dokumentar-, Animations- und/oder kinematografische Experimentierfilme von überall auf der Welt — außer Peru —, die sich ästhetisch und diskursiv mit Fragen der Zensur und/oder der künstlerischen Freiheit und Meinungsäußerung befassen. Keine Zeitbegrenzung.
3. Peruanischer Wettbewerb. Peruanische Spiel-, Dokumentar-, Animations- und kinematografische Experimentierfilme ohne zeitliche Begrenzung, die sich formal und diskursiv mit politischen, sozialen und kulturellen Themen befassen und dabei kreative Freiheit genießen. Für den Gewinnerfilm wird ein Preis in Höhe von 1.500 Soles ausgeschrieben.
Die Staffeln 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7 und 8 des Chambal International Film Festival waren ein großer Erfolg.
In der ersten Staffel wurden 316 Filme aus 28 Ländern eingereicht und 160 Filme für die Vorführung ausgewählt. Indiens offizieller Beitrag zur Oscarverleihung „Harishchandrachi Factory“ (2009) wurde in Staffel 1 ebenfalls unter besonderer Aufmerksamkeit gezeigt.
In der zweiten Staffel wurden 492 Filme aus 35 Ländern eingereicht und 243 Filme für die Vorführung ausgewählt. Indiens offizieller Beitrag zur Oscarverleihung „Court“ (2015) wurde in Staffel 2 ebenfalls unter besonderer Berücksichtigung gezeigt.
In der dritten Staffel wurden 604 Filme aus 40 Ländern eingereicht und 398 Filme für die Vorführung ausgewählt. Indiens offizieller Beitrag zu den Oscars, „Shwaas“ (2004), wurde in Staffel 3 ebenfalls unter besonderer Berücksichtigung gezeigt.
In der vierten Staffel wurden 701 Filme aus 54 Ländern eingereicht und 464 Filme für die Vorführung ausgewählt.
In Staffel 5 wurden 809 Filme aus 63 Ländern eingereicht und 494 Filme für die Vorführung ausgewählt.
In der sechsten Staffel wurden 903 Filme aus 71 Ländern eingereicht und mehr als 300 Filme für die Vorführung ausgewählt.
In Staffel 7 wurden 1007 Filme aus 82 Ländern eingereicht und mehr als 250 Filme für die Vorführung ausgewählt. Der Sprecher von Loksabha, Hon'ble, Herr Om Birla Sir, eröffnete die Eröffnungsfeier.
In Staffel 8 wurden 1104 Filme aus 93 Ländern eingereicht und mehr als 250 Filme für die Vorführung ausgewählt.

Das Chambal International Film Festival in Indien ist eine Plattform, auf der Filmemacher die Möglichkeit haben, ihr Talent einem filmbegeisterten Publikum zu präsentieren. Außerdem wird das Publikum die Möglichkeit haben, einige wundervolle Kurzfilme, Dokumentarfilme, Animationsfilme und Musikvideos verschiedener Filmemacher der Welt anzusehen. Die ehrenwerten Jurymitglieder Herr Sayeed Quadri (renommierter Lyriker), Herr Kshitij Tarey (berühmter Sänger und Musikkomponist) und Herr Ranjan Das (herausragender Herausgeber und Autor) von der indischen Filmindustrie sind renommierte Namen. Der verstorbene Herr Suresh Naik (sehr erfahrener Kameramann und Koordinator für Spezialeffekte) war ebenfalls Teil der Jury.
Creado en un espacio único, Bostik Film Fest -Festival Internacional de Cortometrajes de la Nau
Bostik- se lleva a cabo en un entorno industrial, un lugar de referencia en Barcelona de eventos y
actividades culturales.
Este año tendrá lugar la 2ª edición del festival, con ella pretendemos acercar el formato del
cortometraje a todos los públicos, no solo a los amantes del cine y los festivales. La próxima edición
se fundirá con actividades propias del espacio en un ambiente festivo en el que se hará referencia al
cine y al mundo del cortometraje.
Se abre el plazo de recepción de cortometrajes para todos aquellos que quieran participar en esta 2ª
edición, que se celebrará en La Nau Bostik (Barcelona) del 13 al 15 de abril de 2018
