Festival was launched in 2005 on 100th anniversary of Slovenian cinematography in Ljutomer, where first Slovenian motion pictures were made by Dr. Karol Grossmann. Since its very beginnings, the first international festival dedicated to genre cinema in the region, featured a selection of unconventional movies and numerous film guests. With the regular addition of local specialty - wine, Grossmann Festival soon became one of the most interesting film events in this part of Europe and one of the biggest cultural events in Slovenia.

We focus on fantastic, frightening, fierce and transgressive movies that reach beyond ordinary genre conventions. Our aim is to return danger and boldness into modern-day cinema, which in its mediocrity, political correctness and desperate desire [...]

NEW - Please read carefully about ReAON (ReAnimania ONline Animation Film Festival).

ReAnimania International Animation Film Festival of Yerevan was founded by cartoonist, painter and animator Vrej Kassouny in 2008.
Armenia’s history in animation had begun 70 years prior, with the release of the first Armenian film, Lev Atamanov’s (né Levon Atamanyan) The Dog and the Cat in 1938.

In striving to honor the craft in both spirit and in name, the Festival has since reintroduced the art of animated filmmaking to Armenian audiences.

The festival includes a selection of highly anticipated non-commercial features and shorts with 15 in-competition and non-competition programs and a Market Forum for Animation Professionals (MARANI). The festival also offers an array of practical [...]

Moscow International Film Festival (MIFF) is one of the oldest world film forums (the second after the Venice Film Festival). The Moscow International Film Festival has been leading its history since 1935. Then the chairman of the jury was Sergey Eisenstein, and the film Chapaev opened the first festival. However, in subsequent years the festival was not held regularly. Therefore, the Moscow International Film Festival has officially counted down since 1959, when it was renewed and turned into a regular event - it was carried out over odd years, alternating with the Karlovy Vary Film Festival. In 1999 MIFF became an annual event.

MIFF is accredited by the International Federation of Film Producers Associations (FIAPF)

Since its foundation, the Festival has sought the promotion of film culture based on three principles:

1) That the exposure to film culture contributes to the awareness of communities and nations of the need to support their own cinematographic expressions, which are cultural and social ambassadors to the rest of the world.

2) That a showcase of new world cinema is a mirror on to which our local and national filmmaking can measure and compare itself, establishing references of form and content that fosters the reflection and the search for international competitiveness.

3) That films made in Monterrey, Mexico and throughout the world need to be exhibited. A film that is not shown does not exist. Thus it becomes primordial to provide a space for film exhibition.

The Edmonton International Film Festival (EIFF) is a truly unique festival that champions the bold and challenges the status quo. It is equal parts creative, demanding, celebratory, discriminating and, in the end, just a hell of a lot of fun.

SHORT FILMMAKERS... EIFF is your final OSCAR® qualifying festival of the year! We announce the two (2) OSCAR® qualifying short films in the LIVE ACTION and ANIMATION categories on SUNDAY, Sept. 27. The submission deadline to AMPAS (The Academy) is 5pm PT on THURSDAY, Oct. 1.

So who are we? In 2003, our love for film and filmMAKERS -- cinematic storytellers -- led us to the curtains of Edmonton's International Film Festival (or LOCAL HEROES as it was known back then) because 'how hard can it be?' The festival was just shy of 20 [...]
