A final del mes de Junio de 2017 se realizará la primera Muestra Fílmica El Buen Vivir en la ciudad de Viena, Austria.

Papaya Media Association (Asociación Medial Papaya), organizadora del evento, invita a
presentar trabajos para la pre-selección de los participantes en la I. Muestra Fílmica El Buen Vivir.

La inscripción de las obras en la selección es gratuita (excepto cuando una plataforma intermediaria exija una inscripción mínima), el plazo vence el 15 de abril de 2017 y los detalles para la presentación están descritos en el presente reglamento.

Podrán participar las películas que cumplan con el requisito de no exceder más de 5 años anteriores al año de inscripción a la Mostra. Aquellas películas que sobrepasen este tiempo sólo podrán participar en las secciones paralelas.

Las exhibiciones de las películas se harán principalmente en H264 HD pero también en 35 mm, Beta Digi con sus respectivas copias en DVD (PAL) y Bluray al aire libre en el cine abierto del Archivo Fílmico de Austria en la ciudad de Viena.

Información general sobre la primera muestra

Después de la realización de varias series de ciclos y muestras sobre América Latina la sociedad vienesa ya cuenta con un conocimiento relativo de la producción regional de la región. Al mismo tiempo el interés de los/las visitantes por la producción audiovisual sobre o en América Latina ha ido en aumento. En los ciclos anteriores se contó con un programa variado, que fue dividido en largometrajes, cortometrajes y documentales incluyendo la categoría de animación. El público siempre tuvo acceso a lo más reciente de la producción regional pero la temática de la presente muestra no tiene precedente alguno en esta latitudes.

El creciente entusiasmo con que los eventos cinematorgráficos es el motivo por el cual la Asociación Medial Papaya se ha dado a la tarea de organizar la primera Muestra Fílmica El Buen Vivir.

En la muestra oficial participarán las siguientes modalidades:

La Muestra Fílmica El Buen Vivir es un evento inédito en esta ciudad y no reviste un evento de competencia en si. Es más bien una ventana al vasto mundo cinematográfico de la región para mostrar la obra más reciente o más importante de su cultura fílmica. Las películas seleccionadas podrán formar parte de diversas muestras culturales que se realicen en otras ciudades austriacas y/o europeas.


Rules for participating in the Buen Vivir Film Screening

The first Buen Vivir (Spanish for Good Living) film screening will take place end of June 2017 in Vienna, Austria.

Papaya Media Association, organizer of the event, announces the call for submissions for the pre-selection of participants in the I. Buen Vivir Film Screening.

The submission of works for the selection process is free of charge (unless an intermediary platform requires a minimum fee) and the deadline is April 15, 2017. Details on how the works should be presented are explained below.

Only films that have been made within the last five years prior to submission for the film screening are qualified to participate. Films produced before this time will only be able to participate in the parallel sections.

Films will be exhibited in H264 HD, 35 mm, Beta Digi, DVD (PAL) and Blu ray formats in the open-air cinema from the Filmarchiv Austria (Austrian Film Archives) in Vienna.

General information about the first screening

After several film festivals and screenings about Latin America, Viennese society already has a relative knowledge of the regional productions in that area, while the local interest in the audiovisual production of Latin America has been growing. In previous festivals a varied film program was shown, divided into feature films, short films, documentaries, and animated films. The public was always shown the most recent productions of the region, but the theme of this current screening has no precedent.

The growing enthusiasm with which film events have been received has motivated Papaya Media Association to organize the first Buen Vivir Film Screening.

The following categories will make up the official screening:

The Buen Vivir Film Screening is an undisclosed event in this city and does not consist of a competition. It is rather a window to the vast film world of the region in order to show the most recent and important works of its movie culture. The selected movies will be able to participate in diverse cultural exhibitions taking place in other Austrian and/or European cities.

Objectives

• Allow the European public to become familiar with the most recent audiovisual productions about ancient and new life philosophies.
• Promote the increased production and distribution of quality audiovisual work made in all the sub regions of Latin America.
• Provide space for reflection and debate, give professionals the opportunity to keep in touch with current developments, and support the communication between Latin American and European artists, especially around the topic of Buen Vivir.
• Contribute to the understanding of cultural diversity and the establishment of tolerance by putting different realities and social ideals in touch with each other.
• Promote the Buen Vivir philosophy as a topic of international and general interest in the film world.
• Promote cinematic production about this topic within Europe.
• Stimulate producers from all over the world to invest specifically in the topic for a redundancy that ends in a more egalitarian and democratic way of life.

The Buen Vivir Film Screening provides a space for:

• Identifying and spreading video and film productions related to this important philosophy and proposed way of life and development.
• Informing the public and attracting the attention of the media and institutions that work in the audiovisual production industry as well as the promotion of local places and tourism, both in filming as well as content.
• Convening distinguished directors, producers, distributors, cinematic personalities and specialists, both local and international.
• Promoting and stimulating initiatives directed towards the development of policies and projects intended to increase, both in quantity and quality, the areas of work available to producers and topical experts in the planet.
• Holding touring exhibitions in diverse cultural public spaces

Esta muestra no constituye una competencia.

La Muestra Fílmica El Buen Vivir constituye un espacio para:

• Identificar y difundir la producción fílmica y videográfica relacionada con esta importante filosofía y propuesta de vida y desarrollo.

• Convocar al público interesado, atraer a medios publicitarios e instituciones activas en el sector de la producción audiovisual y la promoción de localidades y turismo en función tanto en lo fílmico como en el contenido.

• Convocar a destacados directores, productores, distribuidores, personalidades del cine y especialistas tanto nacionales como internacionales.

• Promover y estimular iniciativas dirigidas a la formulación de políticas y proyectos a nivel mundial para incrementar, cuantitativa y cualitativamente, el espacio para los realizadores y expertos temáticos de las regiones del planeta.

• Realizar muestras itinerantes en diversos espacios culturales públicos.


Reglamento

1.- Organización

La muestra es organizada por la Asociación Medial Papaya en cooperación con el Filmarchiv Austria.


2.- Cooperaciones

Se realiza en cooperación con plataformas, distriuidoras, instituciones y con productoras y directores independientes de América Latina y Europa. Así como también con instituciones y entidades académicas, públicas, no gubernamentales y privadas en varios países del mundo.


3.- Inscripción de las obras

a) La inscripción de las obras es gratuita (excepto cuando una plataforma intermediaria exija una inscripción mínima). En la muestra oficial podrán participar obras realizadas durante los años 2012 al 2017.

b) El haber sido proyectadas en otras muestras no es obstáculo para participar en la muestra. Tampoco el haber sido estrenadas en sus países de origen.

c) Las obras podrán inscribirse en la preselección para participar en la muestra oficial, o bien en alguna de las secciones paralelas; en este último caso no existe límite alguno en cuanto al año de producción. (Ver inciso 6. B)


4.- Requisitos para la participación

Los interesados en participar con material audiovisual en la preselección de la muestra deberán enviar los datos de los trabajos a participar o aquellos sometidos a selección en las secciones paralelas al siguiente correo electrónico: buenvivir@papayamedia.org. O subirlo a algún servidor o plataforma para su correspondiente descarga. La muestra trabaja en cooperación con Festhome (https://filmmakers.festhome.com/home_filmmakers) como plataforma de envío.
En caso de inscripción con Festhome deben ser aceptados los términos de la plataforma y los envíos contemplados en la inscripción directa serán opcionales. Fecha límite: 17 de abril de 2017.


Documentos requeridos

a) Formulario de inscripción de obras debidamente y completamente rellenado (éste se encuentra en la página web de la muestra www.buenvivir.papayamedia.org).

b) Material adjunto:

• Afiches, y demás piezas publicitarias del filme sí contara con ello.

• Material gráfico digital en resolución mínima de 300 dpi

Asi mismo deberán enviar por correo postal antes del 15 de mayo de 2017:

• 3 Ejemplares nuevos en DVD (PAL) o Bluray de alta calidad de las películas.

• Copia en papel del formulario de inscripción, debidamente rellenado y firmado.

• Carta original adjunta al formulario de inscripción en la cual se autoriza a Asociación
Medial Papaya el uso del material dentro de la muestra y actividades relacionadas.

• Un CD/DVD donde se incluyan fotografías de la película en formato TIFF o JPG (300
dpi), para que sean incluidas en la página de la muestra e/o impresas, en caso fuese
necesario.

• Se puede agregar como material complementario (no obligatorio) : fotos, afiches, folletos y/o trailer de la obra.

Importante:

- Los DVD o Bluray y demás materiales enviados formarán parte del archivo de la muestra.


- Sólo se considerarán inscritos oficialmente aquellos trabajos que cumplan con estos
requisitos y que sean recibidos hasta la fecha límite, 15 de mayo de 2017 a las 24:00
horas, hora de Viena. Recuerde que los trabajos deben contar con la notificación oficial de inscripción.


5.- Envío de los materiales

Los costos de envío de las obras para participar en la preselección correrán por cuenta de los participantes.

El envío debe ser realizado como documentación y debe contener la siguiente leyenda:
"Sin valor comercial y con propósitos culturales únicamente".

La organización de la muestra no asumirá gastos aduaneros de exportación e importación u otros de las copias en su país de origen. Así mismo se reserva el derecho de no recibir los envíosque no cumplieran con este requisito.

No se considerarán inscritas las obras que no cumplan todos los requisitos enumerados en los puntos 3, 4 y 5.


6.- Variantes de la muestra

a)Variante central de la muestra:

• Largometraje de ficción
• Cortometraje de ficción
• Cortometraje de animación
• Documentales

b) Variantes paralelas marco:

• "Pioneros del cine comunitario, indígena y popular”: Proyecciones en reconocimiento a aquellos creadores que iniciaron el proceso de formación del cine en relación al tema del El Buen Vivir y almismo tiempo, la búsqueda de la memoria colectiva.
• "Película invitada": Películas que a criterio de la coordinación de la muestra es importante
presentar dentro del marco del mismo.
• "Obras en proceso": Se realizarán presentaciones y exhibiciones especiales para
distribuidores, de las obras en proceso de producción y de aquellas más recientes
que, sin formar parte de las secciones competitivas y no competitivas, estén
disponibles para su difusión.
• "Bonusfilm": Películas que cumplan por función técnica un complemento de alguna
parte de la muestra (por ejemplo primeros o segundos episodios) o que a criterio de la
organización exista alguna razón especial por la que deba presentarse al público.


7.- Selección de las obras

La selección de las obras inscritas estará a cargo del Consejo de Selección, constituido por laCoordinación de la muestra y sus asesores. Los resultados de la selección se publicarán en lapágina de la muestra y por la vía de las plataformas a partir del 15 de mayo de 2017. La NOselección de obras no será notificada por ningún medio. La selección oficial es inapelable.


8.- Requisitos de las copias para exhibición

Las copias para exhibición deben reunir los siguientes requisitos:

Los trabajos enviados deberán estar en H264 HD, 35 mm, Beta Digital y copias en DVD (PAL) o Bluray.

Cualquier envío de obras y material que no cumpla con las características y requisitos
geográficos de este reglamento estará automáticamente excluido en participar.


9.- Idioma

La muestra es principalmente para público de habla alemana y por esta razón las obras
deberán estar subtituladas en idioma alemán o inglés.


10.- Derechos de la organización

La organización de la muestra se reserva el derecho de realizar una copia en soporte digital de las obras seleccionadas para su proyección y archivo. Estas copias no tendrán uso comercial, pudiéndose utilizar únicamente para otras muestras de carácter educativo o
cultural que la misma organización efectúe y sin notificación necesaria.

Viena es la sede central y principal de la muestra, una selección de las obras será exhibida enposteriores actividades que en algún momento podrían realizarse tanto en Viena, como en otras ciudades austriacas y/o europeas dependiendo del interés que la muestra adquiera.

La inscripción y el envío de obras a la muestra implica la aceptación total del presente
reglamento.

Regulations

1.- Organization

The screening is organized by Papaya Media Association in cooperation with the Filmarchiv Austria (Austrian Film Archives).

2.- Collaborators

The event is organized in cooperation with platforms, distributors, institutions, independent producers and directors from Latin America and Europe, as well as with academic, public, non-governmental and private institutions and entities from various countries of the world.

3.- Submission of work

a) The submission of works is free of charge (unless an intermediary platform requires a minimum fee). Works made from 2012 to 2017 may participate in the official screening.
b) Works that have participated in other screenings are still qualified to participate in this screening. It is also possible to participate even if the film has debuted in its country of origin.
c) Works can be submitted for pre-selection in order to participate in the official screening or any of the parallel sections. In case of the latter, submission to a parallel section, there are no restrictions on the year of production. (See section 6. B)

4.- Requirements for participating

Parties interested in submitting audiovisual materials to the screening’s pre-selection or the selection in parallel sections should send the details of the intended works by email to buenvivir@papayamedia.org or by uploading the works to a server or platform. The screening works in cooperation with Festhome (https://filmmakers.festhome.com/home_filmmakers) as platforms for submission. If you choose Festhome to submit your works, you will have to accept their terms and submitting the works directly by email will be optional. Deadline: April 17, 2017.

Required documents

a) Submission form, adequately and completely filled out (this is available on the screening’s website: buenvivir.papayamedia.org).

b) Attached materials:
• Posters and any other publicity materials about the film, should they be available.
• Digital graphic material in a minimum resolution of 300 dpi

In addition, please send by postal mail before May 15, 2017:
• 3 new copies of the films in DVD (PAL) or high resolution Blu ray
• Paper copy of the submission form adequately filled out and signed.
• Original letter attached to the submission form authorizing Papaya Media Association to use the material within the screening and related events.
• CD/DVD including photographs from the films in TIFF or JPG format (300 dpi), in case they are needed for inclusion on the web page of the screening and/or in printed information.
• Complementary materials such as photos, posters, brochures and/or a trailer for the film may be included (not compulsory).

Important:

- The submitted DVDs or Blu rays will form part of the screening’s archive.

- Only those works that comply with these requirements within the submission deadline of May 15, 2017 at 24:00 Vienna time, will be considered as officially submitted. Works will also receive an official notification of submission.

5.- Sending the materials

Participants are responsible for the postage costs of submitting the works for pre-selection.

The parcel should be sent as a document and with the following remark: “without commercial value and solely for cultural intentions.”

The organizers of the Festival will not take on customs costs, and reserve the right not to receive those parcels that do not meet this requirement.

Works that do not fulfil all of the requirements numbered in points 3, 4 and 5 will not be considered as officially submitted.

6.- Sections of the screening

a) Main categories of the screening:
• Fictional feature film
• Fictional short film
• Animated short film
• Documentaries
b) Categories of the parallel sections:
• “Pioneers of community, indigenous and popular cinema”: Recognizing those creators who initiated the development of cinema related to the topic of Buen Vivir and, simultaneously, the search for a collective memory.
• "Guest film": Films that, according to the criteria of the screening’s coordinators, are considered important to present.
• "Works in process": Special presentations and exhibitions will be held for distributors of works in the process of production and recent films which, without forming a part of the official screening and parallel sections, are available for distribution.
• "Bonus film": Films that complement part of the screening in some way, or which, according to the criteria of the organizers, should for a special reason be presented to the public.

7.- Selection of works

The selection of submitted works will be carried out by the Selection Jury made up of the coordinators of the screening and their advisers. The results of the selection will be announced on the screening’s webpage or via the platforms as of May 15, 2017. Works that are NOT selected will not be notified by any means. All official selections are final and not subject to appeal.

8.- Requirements of the copies intended for exhibition

The copies for exhibition should fulfil the following requirements:
The submitted works should be either in H264 HD, 35 mm or Beta Digital, and copies in DVD (PAL) or Blu ray.
Any works that don’t meet these requirements will not be taken into consideration.

9.- Language

The screening is principally aimed at the German-speaking public. Therefore, works must be subtitled in German or English.

10.- Rights of the organization

The organizers of the screening reserve the right to make a digital copy of the selected works for the screening’s archive. These copies will not be used commercially, and will only be used for other exhibitions of an educational or cultural nature carried out by the organization itself and without previous notification.

The screening is based in Vienna. A selection of works will be exhibited in future activities organized in Vienna and other Austrian/European cities, depending on the interest created by the screening.

The submission of works to the screening implies the acceptance of the regulations presented in this document.
