International Festival of documentary film is not competitive and not awards prizes to the films presented.

1. PLACE AND DATE

2. GOALS
DocBuenosAires is the place to see and discuss the best national and international creative documentary film productions. With its different sections, the festival seeks to introduce a local audience to new trends, different writing styles, and also review the works of established directors. The 18th DocBuenosAires International Documentary Film Festival is not competitive and does not award prizes to the films shown.

3. ADMISSION OF WORK
The call is open to auteur documentary films, of any nationality, completed between 2017 and 2018. Advertising films or work, corporate films, journalistic reports, series, and documentaries about nature or the environment with a television treatment will not be admitted.

There is no limit in terms of duration, original language or theme. If the film is not spoken in Spanish a copy subtitled in Spanish or English must be presented for pre-selection.

No film will be admitted that has been premiered or screened by any medium or format in Buenos Aires, or broadcast by any Argentine television channel, or will be broadcast before or during the 18th DocBuenosAires – International Documentary Film Festival. Priority will be given to those films previously unreleased in the Argentine territory.

4. SUBMITTAL OF WORK
Registration for the 18th DocBuenosAires – International Documentary Film Festival is free and should be carried out by the producers or directors who own the rights to the work submitted.

For pre-selection, interested parties must complete the online registration form available at www.docbsas.com.ar and send a copy on DVD or by private link.
The deadline for receiving work is 31 July 2018.

If the edition of the film is not the definitive version, this should be duly clarified at the start of the film.

Films can be sent using the following options:

• Private good quality link (vimeo, youtube or similar). Send the link and password on the online registration form.

• By post with 1 DVD correctly labelled to:

If sending a DVD, the disk must be correctly labelled with: film name (which must be the same as the name stated on the online registration form), director’s name, and contact details.

All expenses for posting works for pre-selection will be the responsibility of the applicant. The organizers of DocBuenosAires – International Documentary Film Festival does not accept responsibility for damages caused to the material during transport, nor charges, expenses, or customs procedures from posting the film. We advise against using DHL for sending films, and the organizers of DocBuenosAires – International Documentary Film Festival will not accept responsibility for procedures and costs arising from mailing through this service.

All copies sent for viewing will form part of the 18th DocBuenosAires – International Documentary Film Festival archive and will not be returned.

5. AUTHORS’ RIGHTS
The organizers of the 18th DocBuenosAires – International Documentary Film Festival will assume that the production companies, producers or directors who register own the exhibition rights to the works submitted. In any event, the organizers of the 18th DocBuenosAires – International Documentary Film Festival exempt themselves from any responsibility resulting from the infringement of this condition.

6. SELECTION
Applicants will be informed of the selection result before 10 October 2018. Applicants who have not been informed of selection by 10th October 2018 can assume that their work has not been selected and will not form part of the program.

The complete program of the 18th DocBuenosAires –International Documentary Film Festival can also be consulted at the web site www.docbsas.com.ar .

Once a film has been selected, it cannot be withdrawn from the program.

If your work is selected you must provide the event organizers with a projection-quality copy of the film, three stills of the film in high-quality digital format, film synopsis and technical details, which will be reproduced in the festival program, website and social networks. You must also provide information to be distributed to the media during the 18th DocBuenosAires – International Documentary Film Festival.

Those applicants whose work is selected authorizes the event organizers to share the film name, images and information, as well as details of the technical and artistic crew, with the audiovisual and advertising media, as part of the 17th DocBuenosAires – International Documentary Film Festival program.

7. ACCEPTANCE OF TERMS AND CONDITIONS
Registration for the event implies participants’ total acceptance of these terms and conditions. The organizers of the 18th DocBuenosAires – International Documentary Film Festival may edit the complementary standards and statutory provisions they judge fitting for the best running of the festival. The interpretation of these standards and statutory provisions will be the exclusive competence of the organizers.
