With an impressive total prize pool of €2100, along with numerous special mentions, our festival aims to highlight the best of the emerging cinematic landscape. From masterful direction to heartfelt performances, and innovative photography and production, every aspect of cinematic artistry will be recognized and rewarded.

The Chicharrón Film Festival welcomes short films of all themes, providing an inclusive platform for both amateur filmmakers and established professionals. Our festival is a showcase of creative diversity, where every story has the opportunity to shine.

In addition to short film screenings, our festival offers a unique gala experience, where attendees can enjoy a carefully curated selection of cinematic masterpieces in a vibrant and welcoming atmosphere. The official selection gala, taking place on November 22nd, 2024, is a must-attend event celebrating the best of emerging cinema.

Theme:
The submitted short films have a free theme.

Requirements:
Participation in the festival is open to anyone or any production company, whether amateur or professional.

Deadline:
Entries can be submitted until Friday, November 1, 2024, at 11:59 PM.

Works:
The maximum duration of the short films will be 29 minutes. There is no minimum duration for the shorts.
Works made with any type of audiovisual technique will be accepted, including animation, mobile devices, video cameras, digital video, and film.
Works made after January 1, 2021, can be submitted.
Subtitles in Spanish must be included if a different language is spoken in the short film.
Authors will be responsible for the rights to their works.

Submission:
Short films must be submitted through the "Festhome" platform.

Jury:
It will be composed of professionals from various categories within the industry. Their decision will be final. They will be announced on our social media channels before the start of the festival.

Criteria:
The selection committee will evaluate the short films based on the following criteria: Artistic and aesthetic quality, Creativity, and originality.

Selection:
The jury will make a selection of short films to be part of the Official Selection of the Event. They will be screened at our official selection gala on November 22, 2024, in Chiclana de la Frontera (Cádiz), where attendees are completely invited to the event for free. Selected authors will be notified through the FestHome platform.

Intellectual Property:
Submitting a short film implies the non-exclusive transfer of rights to the organizers for use in the scheduled activities of the event during the year.

In this edition of the festival, there will be "€2200" in prizes distributed in the following categories:

Any of the awards may remain vacant if the jury considers that none reaches the minimum level to receive it.

The cash prize will be paid by bank transfer to the winners within a maximum period of 90 days from the day following the festival's closing ceremony.

The short film cannot contain discriminatory references based on race, sex, religion, or opinion, nor explicit pornographic content.

NOTES

The organization completely declines responsibility for any loss or accidental mishap that may result from the handling of the works submitted to the competition.

No short film may be withdrawn from the festival once selected.

Participation in this competition implies the acceptance of these rules by the contestants, as well as the decisions of the organization on any situation not covered herein.

The organization is not responsible for any legal consequences arising from any shootings or scenes in the submitted short films.
