Festival start: 05 February 2021      Festival end: 07 February 2021

Lens Dans Videodance Festival is a new festival aimed at people who create video dance projects. The first Lens Dans festival will be held on the 5th, 6th and 7th February 2021. Due to the current situation, we remain attentive to the Covid-19 guidelines issued by European governments for cultural organizations, and warn of the possibility of variations of the festival's dates due to these.

We are currently working towards finding enough financial aid to be able to determine the value of the monetary prizes. In the event that there is no such external financial support, the festival will only award recognition and visibility prizes.

The financial endowment proposal is intended to be aimed at the artists or the group of artists of the three winning projects.

The recognition and visibility awards will consist on the delivery of a diploma, the promotion on the festival’s social media and networks, the exhibition of the pieces in renowned spaces in Brussels and / or Catalonia, and at the opening of the festival on its next edition as well as being given the space to perform a show on such edition, alongside the possibility of projecting the piece on another recognized festival.

EVALUATION CRITERIA

The Jury has the following evaluation criteria and the following attribution, and will provide the maximum score to the videodance projects received that comply with the General Rules of the Festival. The evaluation criteria are as follows:

- Technical quality of camera and editing with 30 points
- Choreography and level of the performers with 30 points
- Idea and concept with 15 points
- Creativity and originality with 15 points
- Scenography, location and costumes with 10 points

The maximum points the jury can award per video dance project submitted is 100 points

The intention of the festival is to provide an economic prize, alongside recognition and visibility, to the first three winning pieces of the video dance competition in recognition for their work in the video dance discipline.

Each participant (individually or as a collective) may submit a maximum of one video dance piece for each established category. On this first edition of the festival, there are four different categories: “Socially involved videodance”, “Artistic videodance”, “Videodance featuring Animation” and “Covid-19”.

Registration to the Festival's videodance contest is free and can be submitted either individually (an individual) or as a group (a group of individuals, without the need of them being under any legal formula).

Trailers, unfinished projects or ‘work in progress’ will not be accepted by the festival. We are looking for video dance projects that are already audiovisual works in their own right and are fully completed. This point is an indispensable condition for the evaluation of the project by the Jury. In the event of non-compliance with this condition, the applications submitted will not be valid.

PROPOSALS' REQUIREMENTS

Each video dance submitted must follow the following requirements:

- Duration of the piece: Minimum 2 minutes. Maximum 20 min.
- Music: Musical pieces can be created specifically for the work, or not, but in all cases, the author of the video dance declares that they hold all the necessary rights in order to carry on with the public projection of the piece. * Otherwise, the videos will not be accepted and will be directly disqualified
- Video format: h264, mp4 or .mov formats are accepted.
- If the piece contains text or spoken word, the piece must contain English subtitles.
- The videodance projects submitted to our contest may have previously been shown on social media and festivals, but cannot have received an award.
