The Green Me GmbH is a Berlin based company and the organizer of the annual environmental film festival called the Green Me Global Festival for Sustainability. This festival was initiated in 2008 by Nicolai Niemann, and has over the years transformed from a lounge to a full blown film festival with three major sections: Film – the festival offers a platform for the green films, green publicity and green economy. Movies with environmentally related topics from all over the world are evaluated and screened; Congress – on this platform, professional minds engage in panel discussions on diverse environmental topics; Marketplace– where companies and NGOs represent themselves and exhibit their products and services; Gala Night- where awards are given out to the award winning films. Finalising each festival is the award night, during which the best films from different categories receive awards. Since 2016, the Green Me Global Festival has been hosted in four continents and five cities, including Berlin, Germany; Lagos, Nigeria; Tehran, Iran; Cannes, France; Los Angeles, USA.

Guidelines for the Green Me Film Festival 2018

Preliminary note
Since 2008, the Green Me Film Festival has offered a platform for green films, green publicity and green economy, in the run-up to the Berlin International Film Festival. Movies with environment-related topics from all over the world are evaluated and screened at the festival. Each year, the festival honors filmmakers with the Green Me Award, which comes with a prize money, in different categories. Every year the festival focuses on three main themes: In 2015 filmmakers were awarded prize money in the categories ''soil'', ''soul'', ''food''. In 2016, the festival awarded filmmakers in five different countries in the categories “Ocean”, “Life” and “Water”. This year 2017, the festival has awarded filmmakers in the categories “Climate”, “Joy” and “Air”.

The festival will honor filmmakers in the categories “Fire”, “Action” and “Passion” in the 2018 Green Me Festival in Berlin, Germany.

Film selection
All genres are allowed in the Green Me Award competition, with an emphasis on ecological issues, especially on the 2018 topics “Fire”, “Action” and “Passion”. The film should be at least 45 minutes in length and meant for theater screening or festival evaluation. A jury will select the award winners from amongst the films selected to screen at the festival. Registration Information can also be found at www.greenme.de

Registration
All films must be sent in a DCP format by post to the festival office before the 30th of November 2017 with a completed registration form. By filling out the application form, you agree to have your film screened at the film festival and, if you are a prizewinner, for it to be used three times after the festival without a fee.

For the pre-selection, a download link must be provided, or a preview DVD must be sent to the Green Me festival office’s postal address. This DVD will be kept in the Green Me festival library and will not be sent back.

Jury
An independent expert jury will select the winner films. The Festival director chooses a new jury every year.

Determination of the winner
Among the directors of the selected films, the jury chooses a winner. Each jury member has only one vote. The decisions of the jury are made by simple majority vote. A legal claim for an award of the prize does not exist. Claims under the provisions of § § 657-661 BGB can not be derived. There is no right of appeal.
