The Torrelavega International Short Film Festival , organized by the Department of Culture of the City Council, was born in the spring of 2000 with the entry of the new century.

Torrelavega is likely to be one of the few Spanish cities that can boast of being a pioneer in this world as they speak of cinema, international festivals, filmmakers encounter and exchange of knowledge is not new in this city. Before the proliferation of competitions and short film festivals in Spain, Torrelavega lived more than twenty editions Film Festival Sniace precursor in Spain of independent cinema and similar initiatives. This led to the birth of filmmakers who reported the name of Torrelavega in different national and international festivals, obtaining numerous awards. Interestingly, the growth of the city, the cultural dynamism and new habits left her without cinemas and film such cultural needs, values ​​of a new generation and vocation film ever made this festival was born.

PRIZES TO THE BEST SHORT FILMS OF THE FICT

FIRST PRIZE: 5000€ and Golden Cow award 

SECOND PRIZE: 2500€ and Silver Stele award

THIRD PRIZE: 1000€, Stone Stele award and distribution to 50 festivals.

BEST COMEDY SHORT FILM : 2000€ and Golden Stele.

BEST ANIMATED SHORT FILM: 2000€, Golden Stele award and video camera courtesy of SONY CENTER TORRELAVEGA.

BEST DOCUMENTARY SHORT FILM : 2000€ and Golden Stele award.

ALTAMIRA AWARD to the best documentary short film, made by a Cantabrian author, that best reflects society, customs and landscapes of Cantabria: 1500€ and Golden Stele. *

DOBRA AWARD to the best fiction short film, made by a Cantabrian author: 1500€ and a trophy. *
(* only for Cantabrian filmmakers)

JULIO NÚÑEZ AWARD to the best actress and best actor of the FICT: diploma and trophy.
This award will be determined and given by a jury composed by members of the UNIÓN DE ACTORES Y ACTRICES DE MADRID.

UNED AWARD FOR MEMBERS OF THIS UNIVERSITY COMMUNITY: 600€, trophy and diploma.

COLLABORATION AWARD to distributors, producers or entities that have participated or involved supporting the FICT: diploma and Golden Stele award.

XIX INTERNATIONAL SHORT FILM FESTIVAL OF TORRELAVEGA REGULATIONS (FICT 2018, May 19 - June 2)

The FICT collaborates with the ACADEMY OF ARTS AND CINEMATOGRAPHIC SCIENCES OF SPAIN in the preselection of candidates to the Goya Awards in the categories of Best National Short Film, Best Animation Short Film and Best Documentary Short Film.

1 -The scope of the competition is international. Each participant may submit as many short films as wants, spoken or subtitled in Spanish which do not exceed 30 minutes (titles included), and it have not been presented in previous editions of this festival.

2 - Free theme (fiction, animation, documentary…)

3- SUBMISSION DEADLINE: February 12, 2018 11:59pm

4 - The Festival pre-selection committee will select up to 15 works for each section, which are considered selected for the final competition and it will be communicated to the authors, for their information and for if it convenient to upload a new copy for public screening.

5- The selected short films will be screened according to a schedule drawn up in advance and communicated to stakeholders.

6- The producers and directors of the short films authorize all promotional activities made by this festival, allowing the screening of a maximum of three minutes of their submitted films for broadcast in any media.

7- The jury is composed by representatives of collaborating institutions and film personalities, selected by the Management Committee of the FICT.

8- Monetary prizes will be paid by bank transfer in favor of the person or entity that made ​​the entry and are subject to deductions as determined by applicable law. Trophies will be collected in the closing ceremony, by the director, producer, relevant member of the crew or authorized representative of the each awarded short films.

9- The Jury may award any other honor not specified in these rules and won’t maintain correspondence about the submitted works with participants who fully accept the rules of this contest, as well as the resolution by the organization of any issue not included in them.

10- The winners are committed to include the mention of the award received at the International Short Film Festival of Torrelavega in subsequent screenings. The FICT will provide the corresponding logos.
