FEATURE FILMS

The Official Section. All feature films whose content might be considered as belonging to such the horror genre can take part in the competition.

SHORT FILMS

Participation in the competition is on an international level.

Only one work per director will be accepted. Short films must not exceed 18 minutes in length (including credits).

The competitive section includes both Horror and Gore genres.

All Short films must have been produced after January 1st 2016.

All films must be presented in their original language, with English subtitles. By "original language" is meant the language in which a
film is or will be exhibited in its country of origin.

Molins Film Festival was established in 1973 in Molins de Rei (Barcelona). In 2018 we will hold the 37th edition after having more than five thousand spectators in 2017.

The Festival consists of a Feature Films Official Sections, a Shorts Films Official Section, Retrospectives, Documentaries, Live shows, Workshops, Board Games, 20 Seconds Horror Video Contest, Networkings, projections for high-schools, projections for children... and one of the oldest horror movies marathons in the world, the 12 Hours Horror Movies Marathon (1973) ...  Molins Horror Film Festival is one of the oldest festivals dedicated solely to horror in Spain and Europe.

Molins Horror Film Festival is a member of the European Fantastic Film Festivals Federation (EFFF).

The selected short films will compete for the following awards:

FEATURE FILMS COMPETITION BASIS


1) All feature films must be submitted through the platform associated to the Festival: www.Festhome.com


2) The Programming Committee of the Festival will select the films entering to competition.


3) Competition entries will start on February 1st 2018.


4) The submission deadline for feature films is August 31st 2018.


5) The Festival de Cine de Terror de Mo|ins de Rei is a specialized competition devoted to the horror and gore genre as stated in the
terms and regulations established by the Festival.


6) The Festival includes the following sections:

-Competitive Official Section
-Competitive Parallel Section
-Non-competitive Official Section
-Retrospectives (non-competitive)
-Tributes (non-competitive)


7) The Official Section. All feature films whose content might be considered as belonging to such the horror genre can take part in the competition. No claims against the Jury's decisions will be accepted and no awards may be declared neither void nor ex-aequo.

The Festival will designate a jury that will award the following prizes:

-Best Film
-Best Director
-Best Screenplay
-Best Actor
-Best Actress
-Best Special Effects

The audience will award by means of a polling process the Audience award best official section film and Best Film in Parallel section. The winner of the Audience Award will be officially revealed in our website on Monday, November 17th 2018.

All movies included in the Competitive Official Section will be nominated to this award.


8) In order to promote the screenings, movie senders will provide the Festival with all advertising materials such as photos, posters,
press dossiers, trailer, etc. If necessary, adequate materials that enable the festival to subtitle the film for exhibition shall be
provided. The Festival reserves the right of keeping these materials when the Festival is over.


09) Only DCP or BIu-ray screening supports will be accepted.


10) The Festival will not accept movie copies that do not fit the essential exhibition quality requirements.


11) The Festival will assume the shipping expenses of the movies to be exhibited except if the destination is another festival. If such
festival-to-festival posting was necessary, the receiving festival will assume the shipping expenses from our address to theirs.


12) In the eventuality of damaged copies due to the exhibition during the Festival, the owner will inform the Festival within the following 15 days after the delivery date. The responsibility of the Festival will never be higher than the edition of a new copy, according to the current standard fees charged by the laboratories on the edition of standard copies.


13) The Organization of the Festival will decide on the exhibition date and hour scheduling.


14) Entering the contest implies full acceptance of its Rules and Regulations.


15) Should any dispute arise regarding the interpretation of an article in these regulations as well as any other eventuality will be settled by the Festival in agreement with international regulations.

17th COMPETITION OF HORROR AND GORE SHORT FILMS - RULES AND REGULATIONS BASES

General Terms
1 The 16th Horror and Gore Short-films Competition is an international competition of Horror and Gore short films.
2 Only one work per director will be accepted. Short films must not exceed 18 minutes in length (including credits).
3 There will be a unique competitive section. Works which do not fit horror and gore genre will be automatically rejected.
4 All Short films must have been produced after January 1st 2017.
5 Participants will personally respond for any affront or violation to the rights of third persons that might be deduced from their film contents. The Festival will remain exempt of any responsibility in this respect.
6 Films submitted to preceding editions will be ineligible.
7 All the short films to competition must contain subtitles in Catalan or Spanish ready for their screening with the only exception of those whose original language is Catalan or Spanish.
8 All films must also have English subtitles regardless of their original language with the only exception of those works whose original language is English.
9 For projection requirements, the short films selected for the official competition shall be submitted through a link with the highest quality in order to allow their conversion into DCP.
10 The Festival will not assume any kind of expenses connected with the transmission of the short films.

Registration and Selection
1. Short films must be sent through platforms associated to the Festival: FESTHOME
2. Registrations will start on February 1st, 2018.
3. The deadline for short films is August 31st 2018 and participating short films must have arrived prior to this date. Films received after this date will not be accepted.
4. An internal Festival committee will assess the productions fitting the minimal requirements and will decide which of them can be part of the Festival's Competitive Section.

Competition Registered Short Films
1. The list of short-films selected for competition will be published in the Festival Official Website.
2. Once a film has been selected it cannot be withdrawn from the Festival programme for any reason whatsoever.
3. Authors (or contact persons) of the short films admitted for competition will be notified either by e-mail or by phone.

Jury and awards
1. The Jury will be integrated by people connected with the world of cinema and culture.
2. Shorts in competition will be screened on Saturday, November 10th 2018.
3. The Directors of those films selected for competition (or their behalf) will be granted one hotel double room for two persons for the night of the screening as well as for the previous or the following night.
4. The selected short films will compete for the following awards:
a. 1st JURY AWARD 500 euros
b. BEST FX and/or MAKE-UP AWARD 250 euros
c. BEST SCREENPLAY AWARD 250 euros
d. AUDIENCE 'ANGOIXA' AWARD Prize
e. Best performance ‘VICTOR ISRAEL’ AWARD Prize
f. MÈLIÉS D’ARGENT AWARD to the best European Short Prize
5. Prizes cannot be declared exaequo or void.
6. The jury has the right to award Special Mentions to participants.


Final clarifications
1. Entering the contest implies full acceptance of its Rules and Regulations.
2. Should any dispute arise regarding the interpretation of an article in these regulations as well as any other eventuality, it will be settled by the Festival.
3. The Festival has the right to modify these Rules and Regulation with previous warning.
4. The shorts in contest for the Premi Méliès d’Argent [Silver Méliès Award] must follow the European Fantastic Film Festivals Federation regulations.
