The 8th annual Skyline Benidorm Film Festival will be celebrated from 13th through April 20th 2023, in the city of Benidorm (Spain).

Through a cultural project with a future perspective, the Skyline Benidorm Film Festival aims to promote, disseminate, professionalize, and enhance short-format cinema.

ARTICLE 1. DATES
The celebration of the 8th edition of the Skyline Benidorm Film Festival will take place in the city of Benidorm, Spain, from 13th to 20th of April, 2024.

ARTICLE 2. REQUIREMENTS
Fiction, animation, and documentary works with a maximum duration of 30 minutes, produced after October 1st, 2022, can compete. Short films that are premiering at the festival will be positively valued.
The following sections are available for short films to compete:

• National official section - Goya awards Qualifier
Only Spanish short films with an official ICAA rating prior to the festival can participate.

• European official section
Short films produced in any European Union country except Spain, can participate. Entries should preferably have Spanish subtitles, but viewing copies with english subtitles will also be accepted.

• Latin-American official section
Short films produced in any Latin American country can participate.

• Young filmmakers’ section
A national competition for short films directed by students under 25 years old. The duration must not exceed 10 minutes, and the theme should revolve around gender equality and/or integration.

• Best valencian short film award
All short films part of the national official section can participate, provided the production company is based in the Valencian Community or the director was born or resides in the Valencian Community.

ARTICLE 3. REGISTRATION

The registration period begins on October 4th, 2023, and remains open until December 20th, 2023. Each author can submit a maximum of two works.

REGISTRATION FEES

National official section:
Until December 10th, 2023, the regular registration fee will be 7€.
From December 11th to the 20th, 2023, the late registration fee will be 14€.
European official section:
Until December 10th, 2023, the regular registration fee will be 14€.
From December 11th to the 20th, 2023, the late registration fee will be 20€.
Latin-American official section:
Until December 10th, 2023, the regular registration fee will be 14€.
From December 11th to the 20th, 2023, the late registration fee will be 20€.
Young filmmakers´ section:
Until December 20th, 2023. Tax exempt.

prizes will be paid via bank transfer to the individual or entity that registered or is directly associated with the submitted work, subject to legal withholdings. Trophies will be given to the winners at the final gala. The organization will not cover shipping costs for trophies to non-attendees.
After the festival announces payment for selection and/or awards, recipients have a four-month window to provide necessary documentation. After this period, no claims for payment can be made.

ARTICLE 5. SELECTION PAYMENT

The organization will pay 200€ to all the short films selected in the national official section as payment per selection and exhibition rights.
Participation in this festival involves the transfer of the screening rights of the images sent within the scope of the festival itself, which will be archived by the organization if deemed appropriate and in agreement with the owners of the short films.
Authors must inform the organization if they are part of the SGAE or any other society that manages their royalties, since the payment of this amount covers the copyright of the projected works.
The amount of all cash prizes awarded by the festival or its sponsors shall be subject to the tax restrictions established by law.

ARTICLE 6. SELECTION OF FILMS

One month before the Skyline Benidorm Film Festival takes place, the organization will inform the selected participants of their inclusion in the various festival sections. Selected films for the competition must confirm their participation within 72 hours of receiving communication from the festival.

The producer or representative who confirms the film's participation in the festival will be responsible for communicating acceptance and participation regarding institutions, companies, sales agents, and other professionals involved in the production and/or distribution of the film.

The selection of each film by the festival will remain strictly confidential between its management and the producers or representatives of each invited film until the festival decides to announce it officially and publicly.

ARTICLE 7. JURIES

The different juries will be composed of distinguished professionals from the film industry and will be responsible for awarding the prizes.

Each jury may declare some awards void and may also give special mentions if deemed appropriate, without financial rewards.

No person who has an interest in the production or exhibition of the films on which they must make a verdict can participate as a juror.

The decisions of the juries will be final.

ARTICLE 8. DELIVERY OF SCREENING AND PROMOTION MATERIALS

The festival organization reserves the right to reject copies that, after technical department inspection, are deemed unsuitable for projection.

The festival organization will inform the owners or representatives of the films if any irregularities are found in the copies.

All required materials must be sent via download link before February 26th, 2024.

Trailer in original version with subtitles in english (VOSE): .mp4 (between 5-10MB)

ARTICLE 9. GENERAL RULES

The festival Organization will determine the format and the projection schedule, either in person or online. In any case, the face-to-face screening at headquarters will be subject to what the health authorities determine on the scheduled dates. Regardless of the programming in person.

The festival's selection committee will choose the works to be included in the official competitive section as well as other sections. The results of the official selection will be personally and in writing communicated to all participants.

The festival management can withdraw a film at any time if it fails to comply with any rules in this regulation. Also, falsification of production data will result in the removal from various sections if the film had been selected.

The festival will bear the cost of accommodation and meals for a representative of each selected film during the days that they are invited to the festival. If the guest wants to come with a companion, this extra expense will not be covered by the festival in any case.

The festival may exhibit selected short films at locations and times deemed appropriate during the festival days and in parallel screenings that may occur during the rest of the year, up to a maximum of five sessions, always informing authors and with their consent.

The director, producer or representative of the works selected for the competition will take part in a discussion after the screenings of their works.

Short films competing in the national official section, directed or produced by Valencian individuals, will also be eligible for the Best Valencian Short Film Award.

ARTICLE 10. INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY

The author or owner will retain their intellectual rights and is responsible for ensuring they are not subject to any legal obligations and that no third-party rights exist.

Submitting a short film to the Skyline Benidorm Film Festival implies, for selected participants, the non-exclusive transfer of material to the organization for use in activities planned with the festival's sponsors.

All received documentation will become part of the festival's archive.

ARTICLE 11. ACCEPTANCE OF THE RULES

Festival registration implies acceptance of these rules.

Any matter not covered by these rules will be resolved by the festival organization.

These rules are subject to potential modifications and/or annexes due to factors external to the organization.
