The main goal of the UVAQ College Short Film Festival (FCU UVAQ) is to promote culture through cinema by narrating stories, making critiques and fostering healthy competition between students of different institutions, creating reflections of the environment which we live in.

This festival has been organized by Universidad Vasco de Quiroga (UVAQ) in Morelia, Michoacan, Mexico since 2007. At the beginning, only the work created by the students was projected, but it has evolved through time and for the past 5 years we have exposed the work from students from other universities like ITESM Campus Morelia, Universidad de Monterrey, Universidad International Jefferson, as well as from other civil organizations. We also have held open calls to the general public so they can submit their creations.

The projects involved are of high quality, as evidenced by the fact that some have been selected by renowned festivals, like Morelia International Film Festival (FICM), Shorts Mexico, Monterrey International Film Festival, International Film Festival of Neuquen (FECINEU) Argentina, Chicago’s Little Mexico Film Festival, Greece’s International Video Poetry Festival and others.

The 5th Edition of the Working Title Film Festival will be held in Vicenza (Italy) from the 29th of September to the 3rd of October 2020.

The Working Title Film Festival is promoted by the organization LIES – Laboratorio dell'inchiesta economica e sociale (“a permanent workshop for an economic and social survey”), based in Padua and which has been active in Padua and Vicenza since 2011. The venues hosting the 5th edition will be Sala Lampertico (Cinema Odeon), Exworks (Zerogloss), an artistic and creative space, and the local wine bar Bottega Faustino.

The aim of the Festival is to encourage, through cinema and audiovisual arts and expressions, a reflection on the issues related to Work, especially in the contemporary society, and on the relevant political and social context.

The Working Title Film Festival intends to read through a contemporary viewpoint the current patterns and conditions of the world of work, focusing not only on its negative perspective, on precariousness, fragmentation and reduced workers’ protection and rights, but also on its creative possibilities.
Moreover, the festival aims at giving visibility to audiovisual artworks that are not mainstream and do not belong to the official distribution network, and to the emerging cinema, thus creating a dialogue between independent filmmakers and the audience.

The Working Title Film Festival 5 will include a selection of audiovisual works in competition and Q&A, presentations and meetings.

The Montevideo Fantastic Film Festival is the first film festival in Uruguay dedicated to the dissemination of national and international works, related to horror, fantasy and science fiction genres. Its objective is to annually present independent and ultra-independent productions that are often considered "minor" and that hardly access to the commercial and cultural circuit.

The Festival has sections dedicated to short and long feature films in competition, as well as exhibitions and parallel shows where classics are exhibited, also as a tribute to different figures of the genre and presented by various specialists.

Montevideo Fantastic Film Festival has been declared of Cultural Interest by the Ministry of Education and Culture, of Municipal Interest by the Intendance of Montevideo, and of Tourist Interest by the Ministry of Tourism in Uruguay.

It had spaces in the Punta del Este International Film Festival, LatinUy Film Festival ("Cinema Fantasy" section, in La Barra), Piriápolis de Película International Film Festival ("FantaPiria" section), as well as in several foreign genre festivals ("Buenos Aires Rojo Sangre" from ARGENTINA; Brasilia International Fantastic Film Festival from BRAZIL; "FIXIÓN Fest", from Santiago, CHILE; "Zinema Zombie Fest" from Bogotá, COLOMBIA).

Phenomena Festival is a competitive international films and arts festival. Focused in fantasy, sci-fi and horror, we are in search of the most uncanny film makers.

Our mission is to find the most surreal, unique and amazing genre films of the globe and bring then into the spotlight to be seen by the largest number of weirdness aficcionados possible! The greatest genre films for us are the ones that on the surface are excellent fantasy or scary movies, but if you start digging, you get a sense of another layer that speaks about a truth of a kind. Simply put, films we do not forget so fast. Films that we get sucked into and go for a voyage with. Films that we feel gave us more than just the satisfaction of being glued to the screen. Because mindless entertainment is everywhere and we're not sure if there is an excuse for it anymore. Genre films or films with genre elements are one of the few last resorts where one can make both art and entertainment and still have that special layer hidden within, and we really love that.

The event takes place in the megalopolis of São Paulo, Brazil, with 4 days of screenings, panels and workshops.

We promise a rollicking good time and a slate packed with great films. We can't do that without the filmmakers and artists, so submit now! Diversity and originality are not only welcome, but also encouraged. Absolutely no ratings restrictions, ever.

Weird Shots is the contest of short films Weird Sci-Fi Show, the community of fans of geek culture of Palma de Mallorca. For the next 2020 we want to present, from our humble position, the talents of the future, who, from our prism (ie, science fiction, horror, fantasy ...) not only enjoy, but they dare to tell their own stories through a way never shelved and increasingly valued, as is the film. Weird Shots returns, a festival of short films that we hope will be positioned as a benchmark short of gender through its successive editions.

Of course the intention is placed on it: the whole team behind the Association has turned to a festival at the level that has the most historic theater in the Balearic as a means of exhibition, talks and enliven the Festival jury of some of the most compelling names in filmmaking Islands.

So authors, we are waiting. Please send your works, which will be treated with the utmost respect, valued in perspective and awarded (which gain) accordingly. Welcome to the future festival of short films by genre benchmark Spain.

This year, as a novelty, we extend the contest to the feature film.

Welcome to Weird Shots

MELIES!

Feature film festival

Festival was launched in 2005 on 100th anniversary of Slovenian cinematography in Ljutomer, where first Slovenian motion pictures were made by Dr. Karol Grossmann. Since its very beginnings, the first international festival dedicated to genre cinema in the region, featured a selection of unconventional movies and numerous film guests. With the regular addition of local specialty - wine, Grossmann Festival soon became one of the most interesting film events in this part of Europe and one of the biggest cultural events in Slovenia.

We focus on fantastic, frightening, fierce and transgressive movies that reach beyond ordinary genre conventions. Our aim is to return danger and boldness into modern-day cinema, which in its mediocrity, political correctness and desperate desire for mass appeal loses more and more of its former reputation, influence, creativity and consequently its audience. Among these efforts we present cult films and its authors and seek cult films-to-be in modern cinema.

Grossmann festival is dedicated to this not so loud, but much more dangerous and funny side of cinema, that pulls no punches, wallows in excess, political incorrectness that goes all the way and beyond. But, in order to fully understand it, one must take time, enjoy the adrenaline ride and equip their most extreme sense of humor. And this can be so much easier with a glass of good wine...

Among our numerous guests in previous years, the spoils of our festival were enjoyed by such legends as Christopher Lee, Roger Corman, Franco Nero, Ruggero Deodato, Menahem Golan, Jan Harlan, Brian Yuzna, Enzo G. Castellari, Udo Kier, Jose Mojica Marins, Lloyd Kaufman, Uwe Boll, Jörg Buttgereit, Sergio Stiveletti, Slobodan Sijan, Goran Markovic, Djordje Kadijevic…

Each year our accompanying program also features numerous wine tastings, art exhibitions, live concerts, workshops, panels, book presentations, Subculture Market and traditional monster parties. And of course FREE CAMPING for all our visitors!

Since 2010, Grossmann Fantastic Film and Wine Festival is an adherent member of the EUROPEAN FANTASTIC FILM FESTIVALS FEDERATION (http://www.melies.org). In 2013 US-based MovieMaker Magazine has listed Grossmann Festival among the “TOP 5 COOLEST HORROR/SCI-FI FILM FESTIVALS IN THE WORLD” and in 2018 the same magazine listed Grossmann among "30 Bloody Best Genre Fests in the World"!
